So I've been inspired to take some childhood friends and turn them into characters and write about the adventures they all go on somewhere based on my childhood street, but I don't know how to turn all the adventures into a real book without just making it a collection of short stories. Also, I don't want it to be from a specific point of view but have it follow all the characters around, but I don't really understand how to do that either! Please help!
Why not make it a bunch of short stories? I've read books that are simply loose collections of stories, interconnected by the people they involve (The house on Mango street is one I know a lot of people have read.) You could make each chapter a new story, and go in whatever order you wanted. A book does not have to necessarily have to be a smooth, plotted work. If you wanted (and I suggest this) I'd switch between each pov character each other chapter, and run the stories in chronological order, maybe building to the most exiting story, if you wanted a climax. Good luck!
Hmm, maybe I will just do a bunch of short stories. There are some cool things I could do with that… Well, thanks for turning my mind around @doug ! I can't wait to get started!
@flora.books - Good luck!
