So the main characters in my story is merpeople, and they are in different tribes (pods). I can’t think of any names. I want it to be sea based but not like “aquatica” or “Atlantia” you know? Those sound too cliche.
The tribe types are either “pure” mermaids who help humans and the sea, or “siren” tribes who destroy and create chaos. Sorry, I’m trying to get my thoughts in this without it being difficult so I hope people understand
Names from mythology maybe? Like maybe each tribe admired a sea figure from mythology (like water deities) and named their tribe after them? or some variation. or maybe that character embodies their ideals and the kind of things they do
Maybe look at marine habitats for inspiration? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_habitats Or maybe the names (scientific or common) of animals they use a lot or carry some symbolism for them?
