I have a character who has pyrokinetic abilities. I have had the adults (and his friends) in his life not believe him. He's accidentally killed his pet fish (boiled them alive), his pet cat, and his brother. He became homeless twice, and thrown into juvi multiple times. He is then framed for starting a deadly gym fire at his school.

My boi witnesses his dad's murder at nine, and is orphaned. (Mom vanishes) 3 yrs later he ends up possessed by a dark spirit which nearly obliviates him.
There is a helpful spirit involved that make a deal with the creature that murdered his dad, and is taken away from his original body, and given a new one. (Was tortured for four years while being possessed. And was left with major trauma. )
