Yes, for sure. Hair and how you style it can be extremely empowering. At least I think so. (Sorry for disappearing and dropping back in at random times… I'm just all over the place right now.)

It's ok.
And thank you. My parents get to dictate just about everything in my life, including my fucking hair.
"No, I don't like that one, it's too short." "Ooh, this one is cute" "No, you can't dye it" "I don't want you to look like a boy, Eva"
Fuck that.

Yeah… parents getting to actively control the length of their child's hair is just bad news all around (of course with the exception of really young kids, but we're not talking about that.)
It's one thing to tell you not to dye it (if they're paying for it, that is, because dye is expensive), but hair is honestly a great source of self-confidence and self-expression. It's yours to control. It's part of your body and it's not a permanent change.
And who cares what gender you look like? Why are people so superficial and concerned with what gender other people are?! It just… ugh!!!! It's disgusting and honestly isn't anyone's business how you express yourself through style choices. At least, it's not their business to judge you for it.

I know! Thank you!
I honestly will get a bowl cut, just so I have an excuse to shave it off

I'm sure it's also really freeing to have short hair, and not have a mess to deal with. Washing it would also be really easy… I can't see any real cons to doing it because it is a temporary thing. Hair grows back…
I will never get why people care so much about other people's hair though… My family cares about my hair more than they should for whatever reason, and it's always nit-picky little things. I can't say I understand the situation you're going through perfectly (although my best friend is an adult whose parents actually pulled the same thing on her, so I've seen it happen before), but I see what's happening and I can at least empathize somewhat.

Thank you. Really.
Hair grows back, so it shouldn't matter. This is the haircut mum said was "too short, and i's look like a guy"

Thanks!
I wish it "wasn't too short". The other one is partly shaved, and that's not too short!?

@Becfromthedead group

I think whatever you pick would look great on you. How long is your hair now? Do you think you could gradually and discreetly move to shorter lengths over time?

I would show you, but I can't. It's kinda long, but still short ish. I can't really get shorter than this without it being obvious

Ayyy, same! I've been going to sleep at like 1 every night, maybe later.

Me too. And waking up at 5!

None of that though… I wake up at 9. Made sure my schedule gave me classes at 11 AM or later (except my 8 AM lab, but we don't talk about that)
