We have all heard the Soulmates AUs, but there are so many different ones that it's hard to know which one someone's talking about. So I'm here to ask: Which one do you think of when someone says soulmate and which one's your favourite?
I think of like love at first sight, or that scene in Big Fish where the world slows down when the two lovers meet and then speeds up real fast to catch up with time again. That's really a weird movie
My friend told me this fictional Soulmate AU and told me she got it off the internet or or something: Basically the concept of the au is that everyone sees their soulmate as everyone they look at according to their gender. And only you know what you truly look like. For example, let's say you're a girl, and your soulmate is a boy with green eyes, black hair, and a scar on his cheek. Then, every boy you would look at, would look exactly like your soulmate. On a normal day, boys would ask you what they looked like to you, and you would answer "Green eyes, black hair, and a cute scar on your cheek." They would shake their head no, and some of them laughed and said "Well, guess I'm not your soulmate," and walk away. One day, when telling someone as you saw them ("green eyes, black hair, and a fading scar on your cheek"), they would slowly nod and continue to tell you what you looked like to them ("brown messy hair, muddy yellow eyes, and two freckles on the left side of your cheek"). It's a pretty sad au because your parents will never be able to know what they're child[ren] look like, they only see each other when they look at you. It's really confusing, sorry
One of my favorite soulmate au's is where their last words you hear are written somewhere on your body, so you never know who is your soulmate until you lose them.
Either that one, or the one where you can write on your body and it shows up on your soulmate's body too.
I just think both of these are so darn awesome.
I mainly think of those werewolf stories where they have mates and stuff who have a unique scent etc etc
Personally I hate most soulmate stories. Most of the time it's just an easy way to spark a romance between people instead of actually taking the time to make it good.
Anyway, some of them I like. Probably the fanfiction ones because they're forgivable even if they're hard to read
