Currently, I have a story I've been working on for a few years called inHuman. It's a story about cyborgs fighting against a group called the Masked Council, and I really want it to be a thing. However, I recently came up with a new idea. One that I seem to be interested in far more than the plot of inHuman. I haven't worked out all the details of it yet, but I will stick to a lot of the same characters from inHuman for this story. It's about this girl who fights by piloting a mech-inspired bug robot thing. However, I've been stuck developing inHuman for so long and I don't want to start over (for the most part). What do you guys think I should do?

don't start over. You can make some slight changes, but starting over is way too much.

I should also clarify the fact that I have had many ideas for inHuman that I loved which were rejected due to the limitations of the setting ( the entire story took place on an alternate version of Earth) and I will definitely reuse tons and tons of ideas from inHuman for the rewrite if that happens

You could rewire the setting, but you'd have to go through the book over and over again. I'm not a very patient person, so I would just roll with it, change a couple scenes maybe.

Rewriting seems like a good possibility. If you’re really not feeling it with whatever you’re writing at the moment, it may be a sign that you should try something new. I suggest starting small, with timelines or plot layouts- something simple and non-binding. That way if it doesn’t work, you haven’t sank a ton of time into it.
The only big thing here is don’t delete your old work. Of course, it’s possible that you’ll end up going back to it later.
But yeah, don’t be afraid to start over. Lots of people do, and you may end up liking your story better for it.
