I was talking to one of my best friends ever, who I happened to meet on here (a thing I didn't think possible, considering my struggle with socializing). Shoutout to @crocs-needs-a-drink-and-death, btw. They agreed with me that this would be amazing if put into reality.
Okay, the idea: Notebookian Meet-n-Greet. Eh?
I know I've expressed many times to Crocs that I would love to meet with them in real life, but we just never have the ability to do so. I don't doubt that there are many other friendships such as ours on this site, so I just had the thought of us all going to an event where we all get to see the faces behind the characters.
Our nametags would have our @'s with our names beneath it. For example, mine would have Dances_with_Shadows with Circe beneath it. Most recent @ at the time of the event, by the way. I know a lotta you change it frequently. We are not required to introduce ourselves to each other with our real names. We can use our Notebook names or usernames if we wish.
Not only is it a chance to make/meet friends, but it's also full of opportunity as well. We can promote our works in progress, finished books, artwork, anything that we want to promote. We can get feedback from each other about those things, and also get inspiration from one another. Editors and publishers could come to scout out potential future authors, as Notebook is a place full of writers, so an event full of writers would be a prime place for them to look.
I dunno, just an idea I wanted to throw out there. How would you guys feel about this? What other things could this event have?
As cool as this idea is, it would be next to impossible to set up. Firstly because everyone lives in different places and secondly because the younger notebookians(such as myself) would never be able to convince their parents to fly somewhere to meet up with some people on the Internet. Don’t get me wrong, I want it to happen and I think if anyone could pull it off it would be the people on here.
this would be so fun and it's been talked about a few times but it would be so hard to make it accessible to everyone, especially considering the fact that there are people all over the world
i definitely want to meet some people from notebook in my lifetime, but it would be extremely difficult for everyone at the same time
I think there was a facetime/google hangouts discussed once?
Yeah, I know it would be impossible with those factors, but I just thought it would be cool if life was nice and let us have this.
Agreed, the varying ages are issues too.
i only have to wait 4 years before i can actually do things without having to ask permission which isn't a lot but isn't a little either :(
Two years for me, but I feel ya.
Hmm, age differences is an issue. Just thinking as if this could happen, would there be some sort of way to separate the older from the younger? I'm also thinking of a comic con-type event, if that helps you see into my head a bit better
Maybe, but i meant the ability people would have to travel depending on their legal status, age-wise.
Oh, yeah. Makes sense. Ignore my dumbassery… :/
Mm, I actually support this idea, but like many others, the age differences and differing countries and places are problems. Tho, like @selene_ravens a google hangouts thing could work, tho I don't know if they have a max limitation on people who can join.
the biggest i've seen is 8 but i'm not in very many
let me consult google
150 people in messages, 10 people in video calls max
Ah, well that's new to me.
Tbh I think discord might be a better idea for say voice calls, because honestly many people like me (which I just remembered) aren't comfortable with revealing their face to people they don't know/strangers (no offense to ppl i already know like Shuri and Ellie but technically I don't know you)
I, personally, don't do video calls, even with people I know in real life and are super close with. I dunno, I just don't care for them. Voice calls aren't that bad
I have no issue with video calls, just a dislike for them with no real reason.
Discord is another option, yeah.
That's fine! i know discord has a voice call option at least
Yeah, tbh it would be cool to just y'know chat and be our awkward lil' selves without any form of masking.
totally not referring to me
i'm super awkward, don't worry. But I got a little better thanks to subjecting myself to a very peoplely situation full of 400+ strangers with my parents 3 ½ hours away.
Hella stress the first two days.
(I don't know if y'all know, but this idea was proposed months ago and there's a notebook.ai discord server. It's not very active, but it exists)
