I would love to dye my hair a really dark blue color kind of like this:

I previously tried manic panic after midnight over my natural hair color (a medium-dark brown color, always darker than any samples on the box). The color was pretty nice (if a bit greener than expected), but it faded completely after 2-3 washes. I've had great luck with manic panic on bleached hair previously, and they have an awesome color range, so needless to say I was disappointed.
I would like to avoid bleach if possible, but it might not be, so I will do a low volume if needed to bring me up to a lighter brown.
My natural hair:

The blue I tried:

Does anyone know any good dyes/techniques for this? I'm willing to do permanent or semi-permanent, as long as it sticks mostly for at least a month or so. I also would LIKE to avoid greenish blues if possible.

Any advice would be great!

Alright, I think I've decided to buy lunar tides in Magic Shadow, and I'm gonna bite the bullet and bleach, then tone to get out that yellow (thus avoiding a green fade)
I haven't actually ordered it yet, but those Magic dyes from lunar tides are almost exactly what I was looking for, and it seems to have a good reputation/good longevity.

Alrighty. Lemme give u my ideas. I understand the colors that you want, but I dunno about that brand. In the long run, I prefer the chemical over the vegan. The chemical has been around a little bit longer, and the chemical dye lasts longer. The vegan fades faster, and is prone to color changing. The brands I trust are Garnier, L’ Oreal, Clariol, Revlon, and Schwarzkopf. And these brands are all available in semi-permanent and permanent. If you want an easy hair dye that actually doesn’t smell like bleach or chemicals I recommend Schwarzkopf. According to SkinSAFE the ingredients of Schwarzkopf Hair Color, 5-60, 2.02 fl oz and found it to be 91% Top Allergen Free and free of Gluten, Nickel, Top Common Allergy Causing Preservatives, Lanolin, MCI/MI, Topical Antibiotic, Paraben, Soy, Propylene Glycol, and Dye. And the product is Teen Safe. So I’d use that one. And it’s true to color. Also if you want to dye your hair, don’t wash it for at least 24 hours. More than 24 hours is recommended. The longer your has natural oils in it, the better the color, and the less damage is done to your hair. Also if you want to avoid brassiness, use the blue or purple type conditioner. I use Fanola. It’s an Italian brand, but it’s the best one so far that I have found. If you have anymore questions, I gotchu homie!

The one thing I am completely against is the Splat hair dye brand. It’s horrible for you and the coverage and color are not what it seems. The coverage is spotty and uneven, and the color is like 2-3 shades lighter than what is advertised. So Splat is a no go brand!

Lmao I've used splat before. It was just the "for brown hair one" so I started with a pretty red tint over my natural hair, but it faded after a few washes. Also just a mess in general.
Thanks for the advice! I will look into those a little more before I actually buy anything.
