Hey waddup, It's me, ya boi
This is a chat for people with some kind of (medically diagnosed) physical condition. If you want to talk about your condition rather than keep it all to yourself, please do so! Please be kind to one another while you're here.
I'll go first: I have a joint condition called Chronic Costochondritis. It's when the joints in my ribs don't work as well as they should and become inflamed. This usually results in a sharp, sudden pain in my chest or a crushing sensation that is a cause for concern for anyone around me (thinking that I'm two heartbeats away from dying). There isn't a cure for this condition and I'll have it for quite a long time, so I'll just have to deal with it for now. All I can really do is take Advil and wait it out. Thanks, I wanted to get this off of my chest (pun intended)
Thanks for reading this personal information of mine. If you have a condition and want to get some weight off of your chest, share here!
I just twitch sometimes(and I don't talk, but that's selective) , it's not diagnosed as anything, but I would like to learn more about physical conditions so is it okay if I stalk?
Yeah sure! It's an open forum so I don't see why not
I might stalk too… I'm trying to study to become a doctor, so this is all important stuff to know.
And it probably doesn't count for a whole lot (not to mention people know what it is), but I do have pretty solid hearing loss in one ear…
I mean this isn't that big but I have some really sick ears and hearing loss. I've had tubes, recurring ear infections, and cholesteatoma. I'm supposed to have surgery for the cholesteatoma again sometime soon.
I was diagnosed with asthma when I was very young. Whenever I had a cold, it was always super hard to get past it, and I literally coughed for about six months after a cold one time. I had to use a special inhaler with a medicine called "Quevar" (which I probably didn't spell correctly. Lol) in it. When I was too young to use that, though, there was a machine that my mom or grandma would put the medicine into, and here would be a mask that went over my face so I would breath it in. The masks can come in fun shapes, too. Mine was a fish, and I know I kid who had a dinosaur one.
For any exerting physical activity that might make it hard to breath, I had to use an inhaler (I believe this one was albuterol) at least a half an hour in advance. That meant that I would keep an inhaler in the nurse's office and use it before gym everyday.
I couldn't really run without becoming short of breath, but – to the best of my knowledge – I never had an asthma attack. Now, though, it seems my asthma has mellowed out, becoming more mild than it was when I was younger. I can run a lot better, though not as well as some, and I don't cough for six months after a cold.
I had those masks too! Although they were for my allergies which got really really bad when I was younger.
I was diagnosed with asthma around 12 years old and had to do breathing treatments sometimes too. It wasn't super bad, but I had a really hard time getting over colds. That and cold dry weather were my main triggers. I don't usually show symptoms anymore, so that I'm thankful for (plus some of the meds they put me on were really expensive, so it's even better that I don't need them anymore.)
The only allergy that triggered anything was dust mites.
Oh, yeah. Allergies can trigger asthma, too. And cigarette smoke. And paint fumes, including nail polish. Also, strong perfumes or room sprays made with chemicals. Those all make it really hard to breath.
Shoot, I almost forgot.
I'm in the process of being diagnosed with a brain tumor or something, it's very hard to pay attention to the doctors when they speak. ~Lex
I have tendonitis in my wrist and it is hell. At first I had thought it was just sprained and I went to like two doctors, they never told me anything. In mid december I was told to go to an orthopedic by some doctor, because I couldn't move my wrist without being in pain. Gym also was hell, we had to do push ups and when I did them I felt the pain go up my wrist and I usually fell. I have a brace that I have to wear when it is swollen or inflamed. But it is nice, I hate it.
I have chronic pain in my left knee. It wasn't always like this though. First, I injured it at a Cross Country meet, nothing too bad and I used crutches for 3 day afterwards. But then, everything went downhill. Everytime I tried running, it would begin to hurt. Then it went from running, to walking, to just putting any weight on it would make me wince and gasp in pain.
What first started out as a mild case of Bursitis escalated into something much worse, something that even the doctors didn't know what to do with me besides have me on crutches for a month and a half before sending me off the physical therapy.
To this day, I cannot run or even exercise without a knee brace.
My asthma has also been getting increasingly worse every year. What I thought to be a panic attack out on the field turned out to be my first actual asthma attack. I don't own my own inhaler, I just had to keep breathing and suffer through.
I don't think it counts as a physical disability but I have at least 6 headaches a week.

I used to get bad headaches last year when I wasn't eating enough, so make sure that you eat breakfast before you leave the house in the morning. That cleared up the problem for me.
I used to get really bad migraine headaches but I haven't had any for 2 or 3 years…I think part of it's the lighting at my school, it's really harsh and bright.

I try to eat something every morning, usually sausage and a fruit or something…..I think I might not be drinking enough water.
My aunt gets cronic migraines all the time. She has tried everything and doesn't know why she has them.
Eyy, I get migraines too! They hurt like hell :)
I also get normal headaches of varying intensities if anything is even slightly off with my body, like if I don't get enough sleep or drink enough water or exercise enough or too much or eat enough protein or iron or whatever shit I apparently need to eat or if I'm stressed (so basically all the time)
I also get headaches when everything is perfectly fine physically; my body just seems to decide, "you know, you haven't had a headache in a couple of days. You know what you need??"
