guys come listen!
Okay background info
Mrs. Perkins is my teacher, but there are two History teachers that i love. Mr. Fetchin is the other (i might mention him idk)
And yesterday was the Back-to-School night
So yeah.
The teachers drifted off to go wait in their classrooms. Eager parents and their children pursued. We ate for a bit, then swung by the band room (so I could check in for a game later).
Finally, I was able to take my mom and sister around my classes, and I went to Mrs. Perkins' first. I had previously talked to her, pupil to teacher, earlier that day (after school, maybe like an hour or so), and it was awesome. She said she really liked me as a student then, naturally, I was elated. I never got praise like that, unless I asked. I also went to talk to Mr. Fetchin, and he said I wasn't like the other students, in a good way. He said it was good I loved the writing and the reading of the vigorous AP class (it's just a college level class, and I'm in 9th grade). By then, I was bouncing on my heels.
So Perkins had to talk to other parents who were there before us, naturally, we waited, but she kept glancing over. When she finally finished, she pointed out how much my sister, mum and I looked alike.
But then we moved onto me. I was nervous, yes, but something knew deep down Perkins wouldn't say bad stuff about me.
I can almost quote what she said, since it happened yesterday.
"Wow, but I really think she's going to succeed in this class. She's probably told you it's tough, but it's worth it. It's a lot of reading."
And I chimed in and said, "And writing."
She looked at me and smiled. "Yeah, and speaking of, your quiz on Monday that you took (We took a reading quiz on Monday)? I really liked your ideas. They were a little disorganized" –I nodded, seeing how disorganized I am everywhere else, a grin on my face– "but they were good. I could hear your voice. You have a really good writing voice."
holy crap.
I never told Perkins I wrote.
So as we were leaving, I told her I wrote, and that I planned to major in English.
She nodded, took my hands and said, "Yes, good choice. Our Creative Writing club-"
I interrupted with a smile, "They meet on Wednesday I'm planning to attend."
She recovered quickly, "You would do really well in that."
so yeah
i was happy
