I want to talk about what we've been working on. Personally I find that talking about what we've been writing can help out with ideas, etc. Talk about characters, plot lines, settings, etcetera.

I've just spent an hour thinking about the personalities, backstories and relationships of a group of characters who will be in the story for about 2 scenes.I'm procrastinating because my story is boring but worldbuilding is fun.

What are their personalities like? What's the backstory? How are the relationships?

I'm hesitant on asking you about them….

Well, so far, I'm halfway through a manuscript, ready to pull my hair out, and making a love hate relationship with most of my characters. Except Cassius and Amirael bc they are the backbone and I decided to have them marry each other for character development, and so far it has worked out. I just hope that everything will eventually come together and hopefully I'll have a book.

I got a female character that's an assassin. Though she's particularly underdeveloped I do love her. Go ahead and ask me about her!

Alright hit me with it! Amirael is a rogue queen, who married Cassius for the sake of peace. She's been alone since she was 12, and trying to run a kingdom from a different one, while trying to protect Cassius. (She's a master at horsemanship, swordmanship, bowmanship, and cartography.) Everything in this book of mine is a massive spiderweb, but somehow I have managed to keep it in order! I'd love if you could give me ideas for Amirael. I think she's too overpowered, and she needs a massive weakness….

She's pretty cool! But my thing is, (I probably overlooked it…) What is she afraid of? That's what I havr to focus on. I also have to focus on what my MCs want, and I havr to do everything to stop them from getting it. It makes writing a pain, but it keep me on my toes.

@Winter-Will-Be-Your-Shield Does Amirael have a character profile? If she does could you make her public so I could take a look at her?

BACKGROUND
Her parents were brutally ambushed and murdered when she was 12, and since then, she has lived out on the moor, by herself, coming into the city only to protect Prince Cassius when she is called on.

(That's her for now. She needs some more work, bur for now, she's good enough…)

Okay so they're a group of soldiers who work for the queen as rangers. Allan is 16, he's an orphan who was adopted and trained by their group he's actually one of the main characters, the rangers are his family and we get like 2 or 3 scenes where he talks about them.
Lissa: 30 years old.She's serious, puts up with the others attitudes and keeps them in check, not really the leader because that's Clyde's job. She's in charge of maps and navigation. She's an orphan who was adopted into the guard years ago
Clyde: 34. Dover's older brother.The highest ranking member of the group so he's in charge, he's good natured and friendly, and always makes decisions for the good of the team, he was the one who trained Allan in swordfighting.
Dover: 31. Clyde's younger brother, he's the archer of the group, he's funny and loves messing around. He admires his brother and doesn't usually question his decisions. The two of them were orphans who lived on the streets, and Clyde always took care of him so he trusts him entirely.
Marlin: 29. He's a goofball, always dramatic, he has a certain flair. He has a crush on Lissa and flirts with her all the time. She ignores him like the hum of the refrigerator. She actually likes him back, but still finds all his drama annoying. Marlin likes fancy things, he orders champagne even though they're broke.( Lissa of course steps in and stops it, which might be why he did it in the first place.)
Shelby: 27. Her favorite hobby is messing around with Allan, she calls him kid, which he hates, and asks for the children's menu. She ruffles up his hair, teases him and generally acts like his older sister, she's Marlin's wingman, and loves goofing off. She makes the OwO face a lot. She's a highly skilled knife thrower who can kill you in the blink of an eye. She was abandoned near a ranger outpost as a baby and moved between different groups of rangers for most of her life.

• Make that foresight of hers unreliable; allow her to be wrong about things from time to time.
• Anyone?
• Define "things".
• How strong is she then? Is she physically ripped and muscular?

I think she's actually pretty solid!

Very thick hair, like horse hair thick
It changes colors depending on the seasons. Auburn brown in the fall, chestnut brown in the winter, honey brown in spring, and caramel brown in the summer.
The scar, well her ex suitor tried to murder her with an arsenic covered blade. It made for one spicy chapter ending.
Foresight, making it unreliable will throw a huge plot twist, I LOVE IT!
Anyone- anyone who isn't looking for her. That makes it clearer.
Things, think thief.
Strength, think like everyday work. Think farmer I guess? She doesn't look buff, but you'd be surprised at her when she takes you for a tumble and your nose is in the dirt.
Personality, I have to develop, it's that just for a rough outline.
Her horn and sword, horn, the only possession recovered from her parents when they were ambushed, and the sword was a gift of kindness from a single mother and her son, for being there when her husband passed from unexpected circumstances.
(I love how you make me critique her! It made me think, and that's just what I needed!)

It seems we have the same creation method/style Winter! I get the general idea for a story, create my characters just enough to where they can talk to me, then sit down and start writing. While I'm writing I come up with bits and pieces of the story itself, but usually do "edge-of-the-seat-of-my-pants" writing.

Nice! I think it's more fun to surprise yourself. So if you ever get in an interview and they asked what caused you to do that I'm gonna say, well I was eating a bad of Doritos and thought well that would screw the readers up. Let's do it! It's basically my whole personality wrapped up in writing.

Justmeagain…. Looks like you put quite some thought into all of that! I actually don't know what to say to help you right now….

I was trying to think of the last name for one of my brain-children, looked outside the window and noted that it was getting darker out…. Which is how Levi Darker got his surname!
