forum I am in desperate need of someone who passed ninth grade math, or is at least decent at it. Kinda urgent.

I'll admit it up front, I'm just looking for answers rn, because I've got a shit ton to catch up on. If I don't get all this done by 4 tomorrow, I won't pass.

@Simon-Says

Well… the coefficient in -7x should be -7, and the coefficient of y would be 1, cause, ya know, 1y. I think. Idk, I'm kinda dumb, so.

@Simon-Says

Oh thank you lmao but math is the subject i struggle with most… dont know why I was trying to help… but… eh, too late.

@Simon-Says

I, um, (obviously) don't know polynomials anymore, but I used to be pretty good at distributive. Then again, it's the end of the year, and… eyikes, idk anymore.

@croccin-champagne

honestly? guessing and wrong answers are completely fine, i just feel on the verge of a mental breakdown

Fill in the blank. What number in the blank ( ) does change the subtraction to addition in the step 1?

How to Subtract Polynomials Horizontally

Steps (5x2 – 3x + 4) – (2x2 + 6x – 1)

  1. Use the distributive property to change the subtracted polynomial to an added polynomial. =(5x2 – 3x + 4)+( )(2x2 + 6x – 1)=(5x2 – 3x + 4) + (–2x2 – 6x + 1)
  2. Solve it like an addition problem. =(5x2 – 2x2) + (–3x – 6x) + (4 + 1)=3x2 – 9x +5

so, the exponents dont fucking show up, but if you see a number, x, and then another number, that second number is an exponent

@Simon-Says

Ooh, heck, this is not what I am accustomed to. I'm really sorry, I kind of actually SUCK at math. Ugh, I really wish I could help.

@Simon-Says

(But the number you're using would be negative, no? Idk, man, I'm totally lost. Imma say -3. But I am 100% guessing, so… eh?)
