Why is it said that an alarm clock is going off when really it’s coming on?
Why is it said that an alarm clock is going off when really it’s coming on?
It's like a bomb going off
It's really activating
But we say it's going off
Yes but why
It means to burst forth or break out suddenly
Why did Sally sell seashells on the seashore when you can just pick them up anyway?
Because Sally is a fricking idiot
Also maybe people would want to buy them instead of going out and looking for them themselves
to save time
Why do you put two cents in when it’s only a penny for your thoughts?
Because giving two cents shows you care more about the situation
I don't even want one cent.
How old are you before it can be said you died of old age?
Dying of old age just means you died of natural causes such as dying in your sleep
If you die of old age, it means you've lived a long and full life and that you went peacefully
But if you die of natural causes and your young you cannot die of young age. Natural causes are often real medical issues ignored such as blood clotting or heart attack which, yes, are common in old people and are more likely to kill the elderly but have also happened in younger people.
Did you not read the last line?
you can't die of 'natural causes' something medical has to be happening and it's not always peaceful.
There's no such thing as dying of old age
When people say it it just means they succumbed to the injury or illness
My point exactly… I'm glad we agree.
If you have a cold hot pocket, is it just a pocket?
The thing about this is that 'Hot Pocket' is a brand name so yes it is… thoughts?
It means something sorta suck but is also good at the same time in a different way
Why do we sing 'Rock a bye baby' to lull our little ones to sleep when the song is about putting your baby in a tree and letting the wind crash the cradle to the ground?
It's a warning to the proud and ambitious
We sing it to kids because it's easy to memorize and has an even tempo
If there’s a wheelchair-bound comedian, is it still called “stand-up”?
Stand up comedy just means they perform in front of a live audience, usually addressing them directly
Can you slam a revolving door?
Slam is an onomatopoeia
So not really
It also means too shut something forcefully or loudly so also yes
