I want to start Torchwood but I've heard good and bad things about it, but tell me about Supernatural if you want?

I've heard Torchwood is good.

The new episodes are finally on Netflix. I'm on the first one. So far the intro was pretty good, and I'm 15 minutes in. It's awesome the way they set it up. But I feel like they're trying too hard to be hip.
