Oof
I just got a speaking part and am teaching all of the soloists to sing in New Yorker accents.

XD My drama teacher is awesome, she had a tech class last year, and it was so fun. This year I'm taking the big stage, but I'm pretty sure I'll be taking her tech class again next year. But for now I am a drama child! So what's up y'all?

@Spider-man

Not really a drama kid because the drama club in my school got cut but I did really want to join and might see if theres anything near me.

I have one that I know is coming, but we haven't even done casting, and we have no scripts yet. It's gonna be unique, for the first of we have one shorter play, and then after the intermission, we have a second one. I know one is called "The internet is distract- Oh look a kitten!" And then I can't remember what the other ones called.

We're doing a Newsies sort of thing, it's the song Seize The Day with some speaking parts before the singing and dancing.

My school is doing something similar. We’re doing two shortened Shakespeare plays. We have Romeo & Juliet before intermission and Much Ado About Nothing after. We just did casting on Wednesday and found out today what parts we got.

Please tell me that there's significant double casting?! Like Hero/Juliet, Romeo/Claudio, Friar Lawrence/Friar Francis, Lord Capulet and Lord Montague as Antonio and Leonato, Tybalt/ Don John, Paris/Don Pedro, Beatrice/The Nurse, Benedick/Mercutio, Dogberry/Peter, etc.?

@Sugar-Lover

Yea, we do have double castings. But instead of having the major in both plays it’s split up so we don’t have to memorize as much because Shakespeare is sometimes the most random wording . For example I’m Beatrice and the Prince really excited at how I get to just yell at people But some people did opt to do only one play tho.

@Sugar-Lover

Also since they’re shortened the plays are missing a lot of stuff/it’s not as dramatic as the original. I feel like for Romeo and Juliet it’s got most of the important stuff. But for Much Ado they like totally skip over the Hero and Claudio plot line. It’s like not even mentioned how Hero fakes her death… I’m kinda sad about that..

@Sugar-Lover

NOOOOOOOO I LOVE MUCH ADO!!
HERO AND CLAUDIO IS THE MAIN PLOT TOO!

EXACTLY!
In the script they don’t even show up until they’re trying to convince Beatrice/Benedick that one loves the other by talking when they know they’re over hearing

@Sugar-Lover

I am currently very upset with the person who played Claudio because he quit the play yesterday.
It’s tech week. That play is tomorrow. Now we have no one to play Claudio and no time to find one because today is our last rehearsal.
This is just VERY stressful…

I CAME AS SOON AS I HEARD!
(Angelica…All the way from London? Dang!)

Also I have an audition Monday and I have not been able to practice AT ALL because of school
I’m also I’m another show right now, so those two are going to overlap a little
