Hi @Mere! It's only 9:00 PM where I am.
Hi @Mere! It's only 9:00 PM where I am.
Lucky! I don't want to go to sleep soon, but I need to because I have classes in the morning.
Yaaaay classes! Me too, sadly, but I've got a creative writing course first so that's a plus. It's my first day and I'm really excited. I'm taking it with two of my other friends. :)
That's so exciting! I love creative writing!
@Mere Well, I went. We did an activity where we each got three slips of paper. One had an item, one had a person, and one had a place, and then we got ten minutes to write about it. I got "the person sitting next to you", "a foreign country", and "scented candle".
My story, predictably, ended up being very strange and included dancing frenchman for some reason. It was a joke, of course—it was meant to be weird. My best friend was the person sitting next to me so I just wrote a very odd story about her to be funny, right? Well, it turns out we then had to read them aloud to the class. So I read mine. Afterwards, this guy comes up to me and asks if he can see it. He looks over it, and then tells me how it is, and I quote: "Weird and poorly written." Apparently there isn't enough detail and it isn't long enough and it doesn't make sense.
My friend—let's call her Dorothy, just for kicks—tries to defend me. Dorothy asks if he expected me to write an award-winning novel in ten minutes, and he just shuts her down. He says, "Well look what I wrote in ten minutes," and waves his paper at us. His story is about three times longer than mine. So what? It's obviously supposed to bother me, but it doesn't really.
He goes away a bit after that, but I was just shocked that someone would say that. He said he "just wanted to share his opinion", but wow. I couldn't say that to someone else, especially someone I didn't really know. Anyways, that's my first day of creative writing. Yaaaaaay.
Dang I'm sorry! That is so rough! Who hurt him to make him that way? XD My creative writing classes were online so I never had to meet anyone from it in person. I did have to make a recording of myself reading aloud though (I hated it cause I hate my voice)
@Mere, that's too bad. I'm sure your voice is just fine though. :)
@Alive thanks bud :)
I need to get into a creative writing class, though I'm a little on the fence. I don't like people giving me restrictions haha XD
that's true^
This seems neat. I've never done creative writing because I like to make money… And work on my writing without having to break for other things. But it sounds alright.
