are you going to college? in college? dreading college? applying for college? a bunch of years away from college but still stressing about it?
let's chat
dropping out of college
not going to college
going to school
whatever
I’m still years away from college lol
i recommend not thinking about it at all until like sophomore year
and even then only a little
the stress is too much
Yeah, for sure. Keep your grades up, but that’s all the preparation you need until junior year. I figured out where I wanted to go right before junior year, but then during senior year I changed my mind. And college major isn’t something you need to worry about yet. You pick a major to apply for, but it’s always subject to change once you get there.
don't be like me
i started taking standardized tests when i was in 9th grade
I took my first SAT during Christmas break in Junior year, and took it a second time that summer, and also the ACT that summer. But also don’t just start taking them senior year. I know people who did that, and it’s just bad news all around.
I took my ACT and SATs for the first time when I was a… junior I think. If you take the tests multiple times, you'll prob improve. And study, at least a little! My dream school prefers the ACT, so I took that 3 times, and the first two, I didn't study, but got a 29 (on a 36 point scale), but the third time, I studied and raised my score to a 33 (35s in both English sections, 36 in science, and like a 23 in math but I didn't finish that section lol).
SO STUDY EVEN IF YOU DON'T STUDY FOR SCHOOL IN GENERAL
but also know that your scores don't define you, friends
girl you got a 33??? you're amazing
I took it five times and I got a 25, 27, 29, 29, and then finally 31. On top of a whole heckin' lot of stress.

thank you lol
the science section was crazy easy that time tho, and most of the stuff I studied was english rule, and like I skimmed over math
but like
yeah
it was a miracle
The bummer is I didn't even actually send those scores in officially to be considered bc I got the scores a few days after I submitted my college app
I mean I got in with a 29
but if I ever transfer schools- your girl is gonna use that 33 lol
also my score on the SAT was like… average… it was around 1200 I think? but I only took it once bc I was focusing on the ACT
I took the SAT twice, but i took the PSAT three times so it was a lot of practice. I made a 1420 i think.
I didn't really use my SAT scores, ACT was more important and required in my state
Math is my weakest subject too. It took me a while to understand science so that's why I only made a 31 (English: 35, Reading: 34, Science: 30, Math: 26)
dude that's really good
but I also feel
if I ever do transfer schools
I'll prob retake the SAT and raise my score lol
or maybe it'll lower
bc like
the stuff isn't even really relevant lol
I am so tired of standardized tests tbh
they're just a measure of how well you take this particular test
and honestly the stress was horrifying
but hey i got a scholarship at a decent school
that's really good to hear!
it's all about those scholarships
yep that was my motivation lol
what was your favorite section of the ACT?
mine was definitely English, followed by science since it was so satisfying to finally learn it
probably same
but at the same time
English is really tedious to me
it's the same thing over and over
and I always finish the english sections so fast (but mostly bc I have a really really high reading speed)
so I'm bored and go back and read the passages over and over
the dec 2018 ACT had a van gogh passage that was actually kinda cool
Same honestly
The reading section is more boring imo
But both are kinda tedious
Oof. Testing… and scholarships… Still super bitter about both, but oh well I guess
Roll call: Uh, okay. The… high school sophomore who already has the rest of her life planned out?
Me: raises hand
Me: jumps up and down
Me: climbs on a chair and tried to touch the ceiling
Me: Here
i will never not be bitter about tests/scholarships
life is difficult
@camiestrange what's your planned major? I think i knew mine by my sophomore year…maybe
English, focus on Creative Writing, and potentially minor in Marketing.
Lol Cam
I have like…..my life planned out and a billion plan bs planned out too……
Natasha
