Wars always start with the two opposing sides charging at each other with little to no strategy. After the main character with little rank or title gives a long inspirational speech of course.
Vampires in books are supposed to be all super strong, but the biggest feat that most of them do is lift humans up. I don't like the Twilight books too much, but those are the ones that have the best ACTUAL feats, not like in Ann Rice where they're stated (although Ann Rice's speed feats are awesome, and their vampires are more powerful overall), and all that Jazz.
But actual vampires are just slowly rotting, frail, old guys. They are weak and can’t stand the sun in the original mythology, but Twilight makes them sparkly, super fast, strong, buff guys.
Well, yes, they were old rotting guys, who caught fire when in sunlight, but they were superhumanly strong, and they could shape shift into a variety of animals, which vary by the region, plus they could usually only be dispatched in certain ways again, which varied by the region, they were basically just shape shifting zombies that were afraid to chew.
