@Oakie Dokie
America has always been a thing for the history books, known for its ultimate failure at holding up the basic freedoms it swore to protect. Such a political system has been taught as a prime example of what not to do when running a country since longer than you can remember, and quite frankly, you're fine with it. Your grandparents and those older sometimes protest the way the new political system in your province of Appalachia was set up, but hey, at least everyone else was at peace with one another.
You don't really think much of this "America" besides certain review topics for your next exam when you're given the choice to visit the District of Columbia, former U.S. capital and currently deserted wasteland set up as one giant museum, or sneak outside the Appalachian border with your crazed Biology teacher, Mr. Gosey, to search for the lost city of Los Angeles, California.
It seems a no-brainer at first. Who would want to follow a 65-year-old coot into an unknown, government protected, wild, uncivilised, dangerous wilderness at the expense of your life versus a weeklong trip with your friends that would be safe and, while somewhat boring, at least borderline tolerable?
But your friends (everyone going to rp) seem to disagree with you (basically my character :P) on the decision, and soon you cave.
Plus, you're sort of curious, too.
What was America truly like?
