"Sharp as ever." He rifled through his pockets. "How much did we agree on?"
"Sharp as ever." He rifled through his pockets. "How much did we agree on?"
"57," she informed him, leaning against the wall. "Plus a favor."
He tossed the girl a roll of bills. "What'd you have in mind?"
Pocketing the cash, Adrestia shrugged. "I'll think of something."
Echo smiled. "Call me when you do." He laid back in his chair and closed his eyes.
Echo bolted upright. "I just remembered! I've got a secret if you can count that as a favor!
"Obviously," she responded, looking around quickly before starting back down the alleyway. "Same time next week?"
"Sounds good! You want the gossip now or then?" He chuckled.
Adrestia stopped short and slowly turned around, crossing her arms as she leaned against the wall. "Okay, fine, what is it?"
Cassandra managed to sneak back into her strong hold. And was quickly confronted by a sleepless child, who she gently sent back to bed with a kiss on the forehead before getting to work.
"You remember that boyfriend of yours? The one who tried to kill you?" Echo opened the bag and pulled a few skittles out. (lol)
(Bro I was literally thinking "but what if she was just giving him cookies tho")
"Which one?" She asked drily, then shook her head at the sad attempt at a joke. "Yeah, why?"
(lol)
"He resurfaced, I've heard he's out breeding dogs or something in Winchester." Echo tossed a skittle in the air and caught it in his mouth. "I might be addicted." He rattled the bag and laughed.
"Yeah, well, you are one of my sole sources of income, so don't try to end your addiction now," Adrestia told him. "And as for that idiot, well… I hope one of those dogs tears his throat out," she said brightly.
((I love that he's supposed to be a tough, wisecracking guy, but then he's like this))
((Yeah he's essentially me if I came out of my shell))
((I love him))
"Yeah, some people are like that." Echo offered a handful of the candy to his dealer. "I've got my own pain-in-the-back ex-friends."
Something in Echo's pocket buzzed. "Speaking of which…" He popped another handful of candy in his mouth. "I'd best be going, I hope you can sort things out with your ex." He winked and stood up.
(I've got to go sry)
Shaking her head at the offer, Adrestia tilted her head. "It's so weird to think about people with actual lives," she joked. "Like, is the rest of the world normal and we're just really weird, or is the rest of the world weird and we're normal? Philosophical question of the day. You're welcome." She nodded her head as if to agree with herself, then kept walking.
(It's all good)
Echo laughed. "Well, I'm no philosopher, but I'd say that everyone thinks different is weird, and they say everyone is different." Echo waved as he walked away. "As always, a pleasure doing business with ya."
"A pleasure, indeed," she agreed, waving with a single hand gesture. "Enjoy your sweets."
"No need to tell me twice." He disappeared around a corner.
A moment later, a motorcycle zoomed past, Echo riding it.
