(Oof)

I opened my laptop and typed in the password once it loaded up. I clicked on Skype and messaged my mother, before going to look at my classes. Ones I've already taken. Of course.

I decided to make friends even though we might have gotten off on the wrong foot. "I'm going to get a snack, do you want anything?" I asked her while looking at the time on my phone, remembering the time difference between here and Greece.

"Yeah, I'm pretty hungry." Little did her roommate know, she, too, was from Greece.

I went into the kitchen to make some sandwiches and get some chips from the fully stocked pantry. I also got two sodas and made her way back to the room. I put the things on top of the mini-fridge and got a soda before settling back on the bed. "The food is here. This stuff looks like the off-brand type that I used to drink in Greece when I was thirsty." I said while adding a slight chuckle.

I stretched across the bed and got a soda. "You're from Greece too, huh?"

"Yea, this is the first time I've left the country. My parents were super strict but now after the war, they have a lot of things to clean up and can't do that with me in the house." I said while looking down, not wanting her to see my tears. I was crying the second I stepped into the plane because I loved my mothers and missed them but I had to leave or else I would have to take care of myself.

I nodded. "Yeah, the war kicked me out of a job, so I moved to America. Then I left a pair of medical scissors in a patient as I was closing the wound and got sentenced here, by the goddamn court."

"I never understood the history. It's so boring." I always dreaded having to reel off the names of presidents.

I looked around and saw an empty table and sat down while looking around at the people in the cafeteria.
I grabbed a piece of fruit and a soda and sat down at a table, empty except for one girl. Maybe this time it will go better, I thought, and nervously smiled at the girl. "H-Hi."
