Or a fantasy world where it doesn't want to be a fantasy world.

How would that work? Because that sounds interesting.

Taking a big outlook on this, let's say a world has dragons. Someone comes into power and she does not like the dragons. They purge all dragons from existence and erase all memory of them because they want their world to be "normal". Same could be said with mystical creatures and magic.
Basically WW2 everything and pretend its all okay.
I totally didnt do this with magic.

I'd like more fantasies with diverse magic systems and settings. Medieval is always cool, but what about instead of European it's based on Medieval Japan or India? Or a setting somewhat like steampunk, where magic has advanced the civilisation. And if anyone's looking for a fantasy set in modern times with an interesting magic system and diverse characters I highly recommend Infinity Son by Adam Silvera. The main character is gay, latinx and discovers powers that directly contradict his beliefs. It's got natural magic through genetics and unnatural magic through blood alchemy, and it's really good so far!
