The line between unconsciousness, and consciousness becomes more and more apparent, as your dreams fade, and are replaced by sobriety. When you wake up, you see a figure standing over you. Panick floods your mind as you ready yourself, scanning your surroundings. There are other people too, all on similar bedros to you. You are surrounded on all sides buy tall, strong trees with dark emerald leaves, and lush, jade grass and vegetation. A solemn, Dusty gray sky hangs over your head, strokes of purple, pink, and orange in the horizon.
"I am sorry…" The figure says, in a somber, gravelly voice. "But I need the help of worldly, accomplished people, and you are the best I could find."
Upon closer inspection, you can clearly make out his appearance. A towering man, head and shoulders over the norm, with shagy, almost shoulder-length length black hair, and a close-cropped, sloppily clean beard. Below thin, full black brows, are smokey grey eyes.
He Stan's dressed in black scale mail, some heavy plate armor integrated in there as well. Strapped onto his shoulder, is a lengthy, narrow spear with knotted handle and cruel, gleaming tip. Hanging on his back, is a massive black and white shield, like a wall. On his hip, is a wrought iron chain, with many spikes on it for ensnaring opponents, and strapped to his obliques, are small, yet sturdy throwing knives.
He wears a grim, pleading expression on his face.

Welcome to my new roleplay, The King in the Distant Stronghold. This is a gritty, tragic fantasy story full of secrets just waiting to be unraveled by you, the player. Now what I need from you, is to create a detailed, yet fundamentally flawed character. The point isn't for everyone to have lone-wolf type characters, it's for everyone to have specialized characters which need to work in a team to accomplish something. I'd like them to be as realistically human as possible. We're not going to use templates, because that's not how real encounters work. So I want you to keep your character in your head, or in notes if you need. Anyway you know the drill. Magic will be a huge feature in this story, and so too, will having your character self things with their wits, travel and exploration, and role-playing skill.
