She noticed shay but didn't care much

After twenty minutes had passed, Shay finally noticed that there were only a handful of students in the classroom, and no teacher either.
Few things could distract Shay from her reading, but the class was scheduled to start already and no one was there.
(What was going on? The first day of school and nobody shows up?)

Mizu gets up and noticed kids outside "Outside'' she said showing no enthusiasm

Snapping to attention, Shay put down her book, bewildered.
(Had she read her mind?)
Out loud she said, "Oh, um, really?"
She looked out the window and, sure enough, there were kids outside.

Ashely walked tentatively into the classroom, tucking her hair behind her pointed ear. She smiled at the others and took a seat in the second row. Please like me… she thought. It had been hard enough to leave her aunt, but now she had to make new friends? Great… She opened her book and started reading, dreading when she had to introduce herself to the others, let alone meet her roommate(s). She read in silence as no one seemed to be into talking.

Ok can I just break character for a second? Are ALL of our characters socially awkward, or is it just me?
(Not that there's anything wrong with that, I'm just wondering😶)

No, it's not just you. Sorry, this is my first time doing this. maybe we should start again, but what if we already knew each other, or we could just decide not to be socially awkward. Plus we should maybe get a plot down…..

Same. I have absolutely no idea what i'm doing. We don't have to change the awkward people, I'll make another character.

Style: (day-to-day clothing) Jeans and t-shirts, zip-ups, tennis shoes.
Personality: Mischievious, troublemaker, but means well. Not the most kind, but is really just lonely. Jason loves just hanging out, but he is always up for an adventure.
Likes: Pranks, his friends, and any team activity.
Dislikes: Being alone, being labeled, cotton balls (He hates the sound)
Background: Jason was born and raised in a small town, and was always getting in trouble they shipped him off to this school mainly to get rid of him. His parents were always fighting and yelled at him frequently. His dad was a mage, and he, therefore, has magic in his blood, and he sometimes has trouble controlling it.
