Also I have the D'aulaires book of Norse Myths handy, and will use that as my foundation, though it disagrees with Rick Riordan at a few minor points

I have noticed that too, what he writes isn't always completely correct. I mean, I'm Swedish and here we learn the basics of Norse mythology in school, so I know a bit of it.

Wait so is the wolf Fenris or Fenrir?

Both. It has a lot of names, but Fenris is often combined so that it's Fenrisulven (the fenris wolf) instead. And Fenrir is just Fenrir, more like a name.
