"Does she teach you most of your spells?" He asked and continued climbing.
"Does she teach you most of your spells?" He asked and continued climbing.
"No, most of my spells I've read in books, or learnt from my grandmother. They aren't really spells, but that's just the best explanation of it."
"Oh nice, I mostly learnt what I know about magic from books"
Adria sat on a bough, lower than the one they had been on before. "Sometimes I wish that I could create something different to darkness. Something more than just shadows and horrors. Something…."
"Sometimes I wish I couldn't just make light" He gave her a reassuring smile.
Adria smiled back, then brought her hair over one shoulder and started to play with it, slightly bored.
Jack sat on a branch and looked out at the stars but he soon found himself frequently glancing over at Adria and back at the stars again.
Adria started to hum a song to herself. She was oblivious to Jack's glances at her.
They sat in soft silence, the only noise being the gentle sounds of the leaves swaying snd Adrias calm humming as they gazed at the stars.
Adria stood up suddenly and started to climb.
Jack stood up and climbed after her "Where are you going?" He asked
"The view's more beautiful from the top," Adria answered, eyes shining.
Jack smiles and continued climbing after her.
When Adria reached the top, almost as if a sensor, the lights of the tree turned off. The stars could be seen so much better now, and Adria sighed with content.
"Wow" Jack whispered, barely audible as he reached the top of the tree and sat down. "You don't see stars like this in Trearia, everything is always so bright"
"Well, Ethulian is the kingdom of darkness. Light shines brighter here."
"Yeah, they're beautiful." He says looking up at the stars but he finds himself glancing over to Adria as he says this and then looks back to the sky.
"You've got it all
You lost your mind in the sound," Adria sang softly, a song to the same tune as she was humming earlier.
"Thats a pretty song" He mentioned, looking over at her.
"Hmm? Oh. My mother used to sing it to me when I was a child."
He nodded lightly and went deep in thought for a moment "I don't understand why our kingdoms hate eachother so much. Of course we're opposites light and dark but this feud has gone on so far back and has anyone even tries to end it without violence." He wondered out loud.
Adria didn't know what to say to that.
"Wait when does the gala end?" He asked worried his father would find out he snuck out.
"It goes until tomorrow morning. That's why most people slept all day today: so that they wouldn't be tired tonight."
