Dante had never been inside the palace, but it wasn't hard to get around. Servants stared at him for a while as he passed but continued on their way to their duties. He light footsteps made almost no noise as he strode down the long halls, determined to find the throne room. He reached a pair of impressive doors manned by two men in uniforms.
"Do you have an audience with his and her majesty?" The left one asked lazily.
"No." Dante admitted, not wishing to lie this close in his journey.
"Then what makes you think that you can speak with King Mythius and Queen Everlin?" The right one asked. Dante stood up to his full height, trying not to smite the doormen with magic, and doing very well.
"I am under the impression that the king and queen require volunteers," Dante said, trying to sound polite and calm. "I am here for nothing more than to offer my skills to them, if they will accept…." He wasn't if the men would allow him to enter as they looked at each other.
"You seem honest enough," the left one said. "You may speak with his majesty." They walked over their respective doors and pushed them open, standing out of the way for Dante. He made it halfway to the thrones before planting his staff and kneeling before his king.
Melanthea nods at the guards and enters the throne room, only to see someone already kneeling before them.
Dante heard the door open behind him, but didn't look back at whoever had entered.
"I only wish to offer my magic and power to the aiding of your empire, Your Majesty," he continued. "All I ask in return is a reward to compensate for my work…." They didn't say anything and it was obvious their attention had changed to whoever was standing in the doorway. Risking his glance, Dante looked over his should with a cold hard stare at the girl who'd interrupted his audience.
"Hello your Highnesses, hello Prince Roman." Melanthea greets coldly, "Who is he?"
"Unimportant." Roman says, "He wants a job."
"You must be the Warlock I've heard talk of." Melanthea says, walking closer to the throne.
"I'm a sorcerer," Dante growled, wondering if she would hear him, "not a warlock. Two entirely different systems of magic…." He turned his gaze back to the king and queen. "What do you need done, just say the word and I will go." They looked at him and the girl beside him before answering.
"An item was stolen from us," Roman said. "A key forged in silver and leading to…it's not important. We have reason to believe it has been taken far from our lands so that we may no longer use it. Bring it back to us and we shall reward you handsomely." Dante stood up and gave a quick nod. "Anything you find along the way is yours to take, just bring back that key…."
"I will." Melanthea nods then glares at Dante, "And it would do you good to stay out of my way."
A devilish smirk played across Dante's face at the girl's words. "You would do well to watch your tongue around me…my power is beyond anything you can imagine, and I'm not going to walk away when money and knowledge is involved. Besides, what if the key is hidden in a secret of the arcane? How will you get it if you go there all alone?"
"I know my way around. I have friends in certain places." Melanthea tries her best to avoid his question, "And I never said I'd be alone."
Dante tried to hide his confusion and surprise but with no success. "Then who are you taking…?"
Melanthea bristles. "That's none of your buisness." She says coldly.
"If I will be adventuring with a party, I'd rather know who I'm working with," Dante answered. "I can be of some use to you, but my requirement is all magic tomes and scrolls we find are mine…any objections?"
(I hate to be a bother, but is this still open? If so, may I possibly join? ^^)
(Unless anyone else has objections, we could use another member to the party. The way it's been going it seems like you caught us about to leave on the adventure. You'll find the format to tell us about your character in the front if you haven't already seen it)
(I think the other girl left, so another member would be great!) "Uhh, yes I have objections!" Melanthea snaps, "Magical tomes and scrolls are vital to me!" She turns with exasperation to the king and queen, noticing with a huff that Prince Roman was hiding a smirk. "You can possibly expect me to work with him!" She whines.
"Actually, Mel, that is exactly what we expect. You may fight amongst yourselves who gets what, as long as we get that key." The king informs her crisply, hiding back his own grin. "Mel works with a fairy named Colette that she looks after." He adds, "Bit of an oddball, she is supposed to be a water fairy, but instead summons fire." Melantha's eyes grow wide as the king spilled her secret.
(Im still kind of around)
Can I join you?
(I'm sure no one would mind if you do!)
(Im still kind of around)
(Do you want to make another part?)
(I'd be happy if we tried again. I suggest we do it)
(Yeah I just don't really know how to get my character in at this point)
(I really enjoy this tho, so keep it alive!)
(Im not sure how to get my character in, sorry I've been busy since Im currently on vacation with my family)
