Donnie

So basically your typical Pokémon rp. I saw another like this, but it was already full and I couldn't join, so…

Uh, let's do Alola Region because I've been playing Sun the most recently and am the most familiar with that map.

Any starter is fine, from any gen.
If you want a pokémon that's not originally a starter to be your pokémon, check with me first, please. No legendaries.

Name: Donna "Donnie" Reeds
Age: Fifteen
Gender: Female
Looks: Short, choppy, dark brown hair that's perpetually messy. Pale skin tone with lots of freckles. Blue-grey eyes and a friendly smile. Typical outfit is some loose, dark grey joggers that fall around her mid-calf, and a pale yellow shirt with a lighter grey jacket tied around her waist. Her shoes are canvas hightops and match her joggers. She also has a single strap bag that's the same color and material as her shoes.
Personality: Bubbly and cheery, she always has a bounce in her step. She puts others needs before her own, but secretly enjoys being in the spotlight from time to time. She seems the type to have a big secret, but whether that's true or not is unconfirmed, since she rarely opens up about her past. It's nothing to do with the people she's around—she just doesn't like talking about it.
History: She came from a family in which the only ones to genuinely care for her were her grandparents. Her mother passed away giving birth to her, and her father was always cold and harsh, no matter how hard she tried to please him. When her grandparents offered a place for her to stay on the weekends, she leaped at the opportunity. Her grandparents were pokémon breeders and, back in the day, trainers. It was how they met. They were a huge part of Donnie's decision to become a trainer, herself, and learn all she could about different pokémon. When she turned fifteen, she told her grandparents and father about her plan to move to the Alola region to observe the different pokémon there. Her grandparents were all for the idea, though her father was against her leaving. Donnie, with the help of her grandparents, plotted her escape onto a ferry that would take her to the Alola region. When it finally came to it, her grandmother gave her a single pokéball to help her in her travels. Inside was a Riolu, the descendent of her grandmother's Lucario, who had been her most loyal companion way back when. Tearful, Donnie accepted the gift and promised to stay in touch. At the time, she had no clue of the pokémon's distaste for her, and wouldn't find out until after reaching Alola. When she received word from her grandparents about her father's fury and determination to find her, Donnie decided that she'd become the strongest pokémon trainer she could in order to prove to him that she could be independent. She was done trying to appease him.
Dreams/Goals: To become a Kahuna and Pokémon breeder.
Eventual Team: Lucario, Greninja Aegislash, Garchomp, Ampharos, Exeggutor

It… Just occurred to me that people might not want to join. But uh… Yeah. Hope you do?

Something else that occurred to me is that I should probably include more information. I'm new at this, sue me.

Anyways, I figured the pair/trio (depending on how many, if any, people want to join) could meet up when they're getting their starters from Kukui (having taken over for Hala since the guy was busy and Kukui has more pokémon) and then go on the island trials? Or really anything, but I'd like them to be traveling a lot and obviously battling others.

Heck yeah! I was just waiting for someone to respond! If you could fill out a format (either the one I used with my trainer or a simplified version of just name, age, gender, looks, personality and team), we can start?

Deleted user

No problem! And yeah, totally! I love Eevee <3

Name: Lanakila “Nami” Kauhane
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Looks: She spends so much time in the sun, that her naturally dark brown hair has lighter highlights throughout. She's extremely tan as a result of both the sun exposure and her heritage. Muscled from climbing around, and all the training and working out she’s done, and always has a mischievous look in her eyes. 5'7, with dyed purple eyebrows. One of her eyes is a dark violet that almost looks black, like the color of a starless night sky, and the other is an ocean blue that changes to match her moods. Has plenty of scars, most just from literally falling off of things.
Outfit: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/764697211706636827/, but with frayed and high waisted jean blue jean shorts, and swaps between cheap flip flops and the shoes in the pic. On the rare occasion she needs a jacket(gal’s got the body temperature management of a reptile), she throws on a leather jacket with the team skull logo on the right shoulder. The top is a bathing suit top. Starts with a black and blue drawstring bag she got at a surf meet.
Personality: Confident, flirty, and incredibly selfless, even if she pretends not to be. Occasionally manipulative if need be. Avoids deep conversation like the plague, because she doesn't handle her own emotions well. Still loves causing trouble and having fun. Reckless, and loves climbing things, but is also sadly fairly clumsy.
History:(Can be changed if it doesn’t fit what you’re looking for.) Her mother moved to Alola to flee tea Plasma, and met and fell in love with Nami’s father. Nami was an adventurer from the moment she was born, and constantly getting into trouble. The nickname Nami was given to her because of her love for the sea, as it means wave’. She was ‘adopted’ by a member of team Skull, and is somewhat a mascot/honorary member. They were all incredibly supportive of her decision to take the Trials,once she ran out of adventure on her island, and promised she’d always have a place with tea Skull.
Dreams/Goals: She’s not entirely sure, but she knows she wants to travel to every region, and explore everything she can. Would love to at some point be a Kahuna.
Team: Vaporeon named Kanaloa, Dragonair, a Fletchling she recently hatched from an egg, a Wingull, a Vulpix(Alolan form), and a Lapras.
Other: Her Vaporeon is literally never in a pokeball, and it’s uncertain whether it even has one at all.

1) This is not set in the timeline of the games, in order to avoid confusion.
2) Nami is great! Her history was really interesting to read. It could be cool to include maybe a part where Team Skull is causing trouble/trying to steal pokémon, which would obviously upset Donnie, and from there you could have Nami react accordingly kinda thing? It's up to you.

Just a few more things before starting—Donnie is entirely new to training Pokémon, and since I originally thought of having the two meet at Kukui's lab (house) to get their starter, I think it'd just make more sense if they met at the pokémon center in Hau'oli city? Assuming Nami started earlier than Donnie, meaning her Eevee would've had time to evolve into Vaporeon.

And for clarification, at the time of starting the rp, Donnie's team will consist of just Riolu and Froakie!

If you have any questions/comments/concerns, let me know!

Deleted user

Oops, I forgot to mention, but both trainers would have a standard pokedex—not RotomDex.

@croccin-champagne

That makes sense! I was just listing her team at the point that she'd caught all of them, but at the start, she'll just have her Vaporeon, Wingull, and the egg. She somewhat started early, mostly by accident, because she and pokemon have always gotten along, so Pokeballs were just the next step

Deleted user

That works! Keep in mind, I think the minimum age for trainers is ten. Donnie started late because her father was against her becoming a trainer, but they can start at whatever age after ten, also.

Would you like me to start, then?

Clink, clink, clink. The sound of shoes hitting the glass flooring of the Pokémon Center barely even registered as Donnie stepped up to the counter. "Alola, Nurse Joy!" she greeted, performing the signature Alolan wave she'd picked up on since arriving. "Donnie. It's nice to see you! How are Riolu and Froakie holding up?" Nurse Joy asked, reaching for the pokéballs the young trainer was offering to her. The pink-haired lady handed the two contraptions to her Chansey companion, watching the pokémon waddle to the back with a certain fondness. Donnie grimaced slightly at the question, leaning forwards and propping herself up on the countertop as she replied, "Same old, same old. Not much progress with Riolu, but Froakie has been more open with me. I think…" She hesitated, her gaze hardening with determination. "I'll just have to keep at it!" she decided aloud. Nurse Joy smiled at her energy, nodding in approval. She turned again at the sound of the back doors opening, the Chancey reappearing with the two pokéballs, the two creatures inside assumedly healed. "Thank you again!" Donnie exclaimed as the nurse handed her the pokéballs. "You're perfectly welcome," Nurse Joy replied cheerily. "Oh, Donnie?" she called as the trainer began to leave. "Things like this take time. I think Riolu and you have more in common than you think. Don't let his stubbornness deter you from your goals. Part of being a pokémon breeder is raising them right, you know," she lectured lightly. Donnie paused, then nodded slowly. "I appreciate the advice, Nurse Joy. See you next time!" Donnie flashed a smile at her before wandering over to the drinks area, intent on getting herself a MooMoo Milk if she had the money.

@croccin-champagne

Nami burst into the Pokemon Center, looking like she'd gotten into a fight with a wild Pokemon, and carrying her Vaporeon in her arms. Despite both looking worse for wear, Nami was grinning as she hurried up to the counter. "Alola! Any chance I could get some help here? A Rattata stole my last potion." Of course, she knew the Centers would help, since that is what they were there for. It didn't hurt to be polite though, and she knew her mom wouldn't be happy to hear she'd lapsed on manners at the very beginning of her journey.

At the sound of the front doors flying open, Donnie whirled around, eyes wide as she focused on the girl with a Vaporeon in her arms. Her mouth was slightly agape at the sight, a look of wonder on her face at the Vaporeon. The only evolution of Eevee she'd seen was a Sylveon, and that was once when she was six! Eevees, despite being so popular, were still notoriously rare to come across. Even her grandparents, well-known breeders, didn't have any Eevees. Judging by everyone else's reaction, or lack, thereof, they must've been more common in the Alola region than she'd thought. One person even impatiently pushed her aside to get the the drink counter, causing her to profusely apologize. Without missing a beat, she walked up to the newcomer, being sure to stay to the side to avoid interrupting her or Nurse Joy. When she was sure she wouldn't be interrupting, she cleared her throat quietly to catch the girl's attention and smiled sweetly. "Alola! I couldn't help but notice you have a Vaporeon, and I was wondering…. Do you mind if I say hi when you have a second??"

@croccin-champagne

Nami leaned against the counter as Nurse Joy took her Vaporeon, and Wingull's Pokeball, to fix them up. Her grin was still in place, and she seemed at ease. The Pokemon Centers had yet to let her down. She looked up from the pamphlet she was flipping through that had been on the counter, turning her lopsided smile on teh girl who'd approached. "Kanaloa? Yeah, you can say hi to her when she's done. She loves meeting new people."

Deleted user

Donnie suppressed a squeal, forcing her face to model a more serious expression. She cleared her throat again, this time so her voice wouldn't be too high pitched, and responded with, "Thank you so much! In case you couldn't tell, I've never met a Vaporeon before." She chuckled lightly, rubbing the back of her neck and still grinning. "Kanaloa is a beautiful name, by the way," she added. "Oh yeah, my name is Donna, but please, call me Donnie!"

@croccin-champagne

"Lanakila. Call me Nami though, pretty much everyone does at this point. Alola." Nami laughed, setting the pamphlet down and running a hand through her hair. "Never met a Vaporeon? Huh. They aren't super common around here, but I've met a few, maybe three? Not counting Kanaloa of course. I take it you're into the Eeveelutions?"

Deleted user

"Nami? It's cute!" Donnie said excitedly. At her questions, her arm fell and she began playing with her hands. "Well, you see… I just began my journey a little less than a week ago. I have, and have only ever had two pokémon, so I haven't met many Pokémon at all. So you could say I'm interested in all of them." She paused, noting the advertisement in the pamphlet Nami was holding for the Pokémon Daycare. "Oh! Those guys are pretty famous breeders! I heard that they help beginning trainers learn everything about breeding and raising pokémon. Which actually leads into what I was going to say next, which was that I want to become a breeder myself, one day. What about you?" she wondered.
