Kate didn't have a chance to respond before one of the missiles exploded and shot the plane forward. She didn't have a chance to think. They were close enough to the ground that her quick plan would work. She opened the hatch and sprinted towards it, grabbing Jackson's hand along the way. "Jump!" she yelled, leaping from the burning jet.
Jackson yelled as the metal left in his feet as he fell. He had left all his supplies and weapons back in the flaming wreck
They landed in the snow. White dominated Kate's vision. Finally, she stopped rolling and moaned. The jet crashed in front of them. She coughed. "J-Jackson?"
Jackson had been enveloped with the snow. His head had been cracked against a hidden rock. (Cracked - just hit. Not broken) but his forehead was bleeding slightly
Kate sat up and looked around. "Jackson?!" she called again, not seeing him.
Jackson flinches. The yells seemed to be distant in his dark mind
She noticed the movement. "Oh, God…" She scrambled over to him and put his head in her lap. "Jackson, wake up," she begged.
Jackson coughs. He opens his eyes slowly and looks around. His head pounded with pain
"Oh, God – are you alright?" she asked worriedly, looking at his forehead.
Jackson squints at her, "mm fine…" he sits up but fals back with a cry of pain, holding his head
"Stay here," she ordered, gently lifting his head. She packed snow under her head like a pillow and rested his neck up. She stood and sprinted over to the wreckage of the S.H.I.E.L.D. jet.
Jordan coughs, his eyes blurry.
She gritted her teeth and plunged through the flames. She coughed incessantly and searched for the med pack. On her way out, she saw his sniper and grabbed it too. It was blistering hot, but she managed to carry it. She stumbled back to him and fell in the snow a few feet away from him, coughing horribly. The rifle fell beside her, but the med pack was still in her hands.
Jackson looks across to her, "You idiot…" He coughs.
Kate coughed in reply. She didn't let him see her hand that got burned from his gun.
He sits up with a groan. He looks at the stuff she salvaged, "You really are an idiot."
"Shut up," she growled. "What would you have done?"
"Died. It would have been easier…" he sighs exasperated, "Let me see your hand."
"I wasn't going to let you die," she replied, slowly regaining her voice. "We're all alone out here – and we have a mission to complete."
"We'er still going through with this?!"
She nodded, interrupted by a cough before she continued. "It's our mission. Even if I think it's stupid, pointless, and I might even die, I'm going to follow through until it's done. Aren't you?"
"I will if you are. I'm not leaving you alone up here. You'll need help."
"First I need to patch up your head. Hold still," she commanded, pushing herself up and grabbing the med kit.
Jordan rolls his eyes but holds still, "And your hand?"
"Will be fine," she replied evenly, wiping away the blood. "Don't worry about me. I'm an idiot, remember?"
