Kate stood outside his cell with her arms crossed. "Tell me who you are."
He turned around, saw her, and smiled. "Kate. I was wondering when you would come."
"Tell me who the hell you are," she demanded.
"Kate," he said gently, "I'm your father."
"Then why don't I know you?" she asked sharply.
He sighed. "God, you look like your mom."
Jackson jumps down a stair case as he ran.
Clint was just staring at a wall, "Wat?"
Maria grabbed Clint's arm and pulled him along behind her as she followed Jackson.
Jackson ran to the (brig?), "Kate wait! Hold on!" He did not think this through
(Idk, just wherever they keep prisoners XD)
Kate jerked her head to look over at him. "What are you doing here?"
(Ok XD
"Ok. Uh." He didn't know where to start at all. He looks around for help, "Look. You can't do that. You can't just run off like that. And to him." He had no idea what he was saying
"Why? He's my father," Kate shot back.
"Uh… But…" He hisses, running a hand through his hair, "Damn… English is hard…" He walks toward her, grabbing her wrist, "Let's find your mom first."
(Jeez I can grammar…)
Maria was standing in the entrance, a sharp look on her face and her arms crossed. "Kate. What the hell are you doing?"
Kate pulled her wrist out of Jackson's grip. "I'm talking to my father, who you never cared to mention."
Maria's eyes narrowed. "There was nothing to say."
Jackson flinches slightly but backs up for the family to talk.
Clint was behind Maria and he narrows his eyes, scanning around the area
Kate frowned. "That's not what I think."
Maria paced forward, but instead of heading for Kate, she stormed towards the cell and reached through the bars to grab him by his collar slam his face into the bars.
"Hey!" Kate yelled, grabbing Maria's other arm. "Mom, stop!"
Despite his position, the man smirked. "I missed you, Maria."
"I'm sure you did," she snarled angrily. "Brainwashing my daughter is not the answer."
"Your daughter?" he asked, arching his eyebrows. "Try our daughter."
"You were never a part of her life!"
"You never gave me the chance to be!"
The words were a strike across her face. "I only wanted what was best for her," she hissed.
His hand slid through the bars and touched her waist gently. "Let's make up for lost time, hm?" he purred.
Her eyes widened and she backed away, slamming his face against the bars again.
"Good God!"
Kate's eyes were huge. "Mom?"
Maria looked over at her daughter and released his shirt. "Yes, Kate?"
"Why?" she asked quietly.
"There's a lot you don't understand–" Maria began.
"Well maybe I want to and you're not letting me!" Kate interrupted.
"Kate. Just. Hang on." Jackson says quietly and slightly halfhearted. He looks up at Clint who had walked up to them and he shakes his head
Kate looked pleadingly at her mom. "I just want to know my father."
Maria winced and glanced over at the man in the cell.
Jackson holds his breath and Clint puts a hand on his shoulder
"Just let me talk to her," he pleaded.
"No," Maria argued sharply, almost instantly after he'd finished speaking.
"Mom, please!" Kate begged.
"No," she repeated. Her voice was strained. "Kate… please listen to me…"
"All I want to do is talk to my father!" she cried.
Maria's shoulders dropped. It was clear how stressed she was, and that she was about to give in.
Jackson and Clint stay silent, letting the family argue without intervening
"Fine," Maria whispered. "Fine."
Kate lowered her gaze, then looked up at her father. He was smiling at her.
"What would you like to know?" he asked her kindly.
"Everything," she replied.
Maria turned to leave.
"Mom, I want you to stay," Kate spoke up quickly.
"I have work to do," Maria replied over her shoulder.
Clint starts to lead Jackson out so they wh the rent intruding
"Jackson, wait," Kate said suddenly. "Can you stay here please?"
"What? Why?"
Clint turns back but nods, walking up the stairs and through the door
"Because I want you to be here with me," she said quietly.
Maria straightened and followed Clint out.
Jackson walks back to her and puts a hand on her shoulder, "K."
Clint looks back at Maria but paid no mind
She smiled at him. "Thank you."
"We should get back to the tesseract lead," she said simply.
"Of course." He smiles at her but glares at her father.
Clint nods, still walking briskly. His ears had a hint of pink
