Pittoo eyed the phone warily, but made sure to pay attention to what Palutena was saying. As much as he hated taking orders, this could be important. And though he wouldn't admit it, he was completely helpless in this situation.

"So what are we supposed to do? Just… wait here until Viridi decides to join the 'Pitty' party?" Pittoo asked, his tone bitter and seething. "Surely there's something we can do? I mean, we don't even know what the hell the exact problem is. We just know we're stuck in this shit hole and that you can only talk to his through this stupid thing. You're forgetting that we don't actually really remember what happened."

Kit almost dropped the phone, surprised at Pittoo's tone with the goddess that was on their side, but Palutena merely sighed. "Unfortunately, yes," she said, "but until then, I can tell you what's going on. Hades is trying to cause as much death as he can again, but this time he's trying to get the rest of the gods in on it. Succeeding, I might add."

"What?! No way!" Pit exclaimed. "And they're actually trusting him? Hades?!"

"I'm afraid so. He's convinced them that if enough humans are killed, they'll go back to worshipping us on a larger scale. They're tired of not having the power they used to, and at this point, they're willing to put faith in Hades," Palutena replied, her tone grim.

@Fraust

"Ah yes, the best way to get people to worship you: mass slaughter. I do feel so loved when everyone I know gets killed for no reason." Pittoo rolled his eyes. "Hades is stupider than I even gave him credit for. Please send him my congratulations." He sighed and started tapping one foot on the ground thoughtfully. "And the rest of them aren't much better for believing him. Trusting him, no less. Have they all forgotten what he's done? Clearly he's not someone who can be trusted."

Kit, who had stayed quiet the entire time because they already felt like they were intruding, spoke up. "It's fear," they said. "That's what they're trying to do, scare us humans into worshipping them. And you know what? It's sick, but…it would work. I mean, think about it. When something that science can't explain happens, the first thing most people turn to is religion or other beliefs. The thing is, how many people would have to die before something happened…?" The thought of their friends and family being killed because some crazy gods threw a temper tantrum was enough to turn Kit's stomach, and their expression didn't hide it.

Pit nodded. "And this is Hades we're talking about here. Who knows if he'd even stop at that point? Heck, who knows if he'd even stop at all?"

"Exactly. And if the humans die out, so do we," Palutena said. "With no one left to believe in our existence, the gods will vanish. You too. Which is why we can't let Hades go through with this, for all of our sakes."

@Fraust

Pittoo groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. "How did Hades even separate us from you? Aren't you like, equally as powerful or something?" He glared at the phone as though Palutena could see him and ruffled up his wings a bit. "He shouldn't have this much power. Did he find something? Team up with another God? There's no way he should have been able to pull this off on his own."

(KLSvlnslkvna I AM SO SORRY PART TWO ELECTRIC BOOGALOO SKDLFNV MY INTERNET COMPLETELY DIED FOR A FEW DAYS I AM SO SORRY also uhh Pittoo doesn't have his wings, remember?)

"He's a little more powerful than he was last time," Palutena admitted, "whereas I'm slightly weaker. That is a good point, though. We shouldn't have been that far apart, but it certainly didn't seem like he was working with anyone else when he attacked…"

Kit thought for a moment. "You said your power comes from humans worshipping you, right? I'm sure it's not the same, but some gods that aren't part of an active religion are pretty popular in media–books and TV and stuff like that. Hades is definitely one of them," they offered. Pit furrowed his brow, a little confused.

"Why, though?" he asked. "I mean, he's the God of the Underworld. Why would humans like him?"

The human shrugged. "Edginess? I mean, 'God of the Underworld' definitely appealed to angsty 14-year-old me. Hormones and… other shit definitely had a part of it, but anyway, could that have anything to do with why he's stronger?" they asked, turning their eyes back to the phone.

"Hm… it's definitely possible. Though it wouldn't account for that massive of a gap between us, it would explain part of it." Palutena sighed, and it was clear this bothered her quite a bit. "Either way, there isn't much we can do about how strong Hades is. The two of you will have to wait until Viridi can help you out."

After a second of hesitation, Kit took a deep breath. "Three of us," they corrected, glancing at Pit and Pittoo. "I know I'm just a human and I know I'm way out of my depth here, but I can't just stand by. I mean, Hades wants to kill so many people, and for what? Because he's insane or something? It's…I just can't, not knowing that. You know?"

"I understand where you're coming from, and I appreciate that you want to help, but to put it bluntly, you very well might die," Palutena warned.

Kit raised her eyebrows in an 'it be like that sometimes' fashion. "I very well might die either way," they replied.

"That's not a very optimistic way of going into this, but welcome to the team, Kit!" Pit said with a smile–gods he was a cinnamon roll.

(Also my responses will probably be a lot slower for the foreseeable future, just a fair warning)

(The idea is that humans aren't worshipping the gods, but they're still acknowledging and admiring them, so it's a different and a fair sight weaker means of getting strength. So yeah, probably. Considering Hades was the big bad.)
