"He's a little more powerful than he was last time," Palutena admitted, "whereas I'm slightly weaker. That is a good point, though. We shouldn't have been that far apart, but it certainly didn't seem like he was working with anyone else when he attacked…"
Kit thought for a moment. "You said your power comes from humans worshipping you, right? I'm sure it's not the same, but some gods that aren't part of an active religion are pretty popular in media–books and TV and stuff like that. Hades is definitely one of them," they offered. Pit furrowed his brow, a little confused.
"Why, though?" he asked. "I mean, he's the God of the Underworld. Why would humans like him?"
The human shrugged. "Edginess? I mean, 'God of the Underworld' definitely appealed to angsty 14-year-old me. Hormones and… other shit definitely had a part of it, but anyway, could that have anything to do with why he's stronger?" they asked, turning their eyes back to the phone.
"Hm… it's definitely possible. Though it wouldn't account for that massive of a gap between us, it would explain part of it." Palutena sighed, and it was clear this bothered her quite a bit. "Either way, there isn't much we can do about how strong Hades is. The two of you will have to wait until Viridi can help you out."
After a second of hesitation, Kit took a deep breath. "Three of us," they corrected, glancing at Pit and Pittoo. "I know I'm just a human and I know I'm way out of my depth here, but I can't just stand by. I mean, Hades wants to kill so many people, and for what? Because he's insane or something? It's…I just can't, not knowing that. You know?"
"I understand where you're coming from, and I appreciate that you want to help, but to put it bluntly, you very well might die," Palutena warned.
Kit raised her eyebrows in an 'it be like that sometimes' fashion. "I very well might die either way," they replied.
"That's not a very optimistic way of going into this, but welcome to the team, Kit!" Pit said with a smile–gods he was a cinnamon roll.
(Also my responses will probably be a lot slower for the foreseeable future, just a fair warning)
