She flashed a quick thumbs up, going back to firing and hitting two more. "I think we've got 'bout three more after us!" She called forward. "They're stubborn little bastards, these three!" She yelled, narrowing her eyes against some flying sand.
"Shit!" Di exclaimed. "Still three?? There was a bunch!!" Di had to think about a plan to ghost the last three. "You wanna drive? I can try and hit 'em. I'll hold the wheel 'til ya grab it and I snag the guns."
"Sure!" She said. She handed her back the gun, climbing over to the front passenger seat so she could slide over easier. "Ready when you are!"
"Okay, go!" Di snagged the ray guns and swapped with Heart. She shot at the patrol car's tires, popping one. It made the vehicle spin out of control, tipping over. Two more shots and the engine exploded. Di turned around and blew on the tip of the gun, grabbing the cb. "Atomic Diamond to Doc, we're shiny, the patrol's
dead. Heading back west now." Click. The CB was off. "Holy HELL, 'Eart! That was awesome!"
Heart grinned behind the wheel. "Damn, you're a good shot!" She said, holding up a hand for a high five. "And we'll be back in no time!" She hummed, looking over to the other and smiling.
Di slapped Heart's hand. "I haven't shot that well in a while! I'm pretty damn surprised." Di smiled at the duo's accomplishment. "Now, let's get home before that storm hits, eh? I wanna get back shiny after this ordeal."
Heart nodded, pressing down on the gas. "Yeah, that's be nice. Gets to damn cold when it's stormin'. Especially at night. Which is also close."
"Not to mention the, ya know, acid?" Di laughed. "Dammed Helium Wars… Anyways, let's go!" Diamond smiled as Heart put the pedal to the metal to get back to their mid-zone home.
"That too!" She said, smiling as she drove. "Not to far now!"
((Time skip to when they get there?))
(sure!)
Atomic Diamond scrambled into the house. "Make sure we've got supplies and the portable radio is workin', and I'll plug the windows and doors!" She ran about, making sure that everything was in working order to withstand the upcoming storm. No acid inhalation today, Satan, Di thought with a small smile. Too good of a day for that!
Bleeding Heart was gathering the things up, double checking their food stock and charging their ray guns. She made sure the portable radio was in good shape and could pick up a signal, singing along softly to the song that came in.
"You good over there?" Diamond hollared across the small house. "We're all plugged here! Not a leak is in sight."
"We're set up over here!" She yelled back. "Ready for the storm, Di?"
"Never am, but do I have a choice?" Diamond laughed. "C'mon, let's listen to Doctor D's show!"
She nodded, changing the channel to his show and sitting on the floor, taking off her leather jacket and using it as a blanket.
Diamond grabbed a sad excuse for a blanket and sat next to Heart.
Look alive, sunshine! Temp's droppin' to about 85 with a massive storm 'boutta hit Three, Four, Five, and Six. That Drac patrol's been ghosted thanks to a crew from Zone Four, Di smiled at the recognition. And I've got a storm day playlist for you! Listen up! The future is bulletproof, and the aftermath is secondary! Di joined in on the intro. "It's time to do it now and do it LOUD! Killjoys, make some noise!" She started singing her heart out, starting an impromptu dance party. "Cmon, 'Eart, get up!"
She laughed, getting up to sing and dance with her. "Drug, gimme drugs, gimme drugs, I don't need 'em!"
"But I'll take what you got, take the cash and I'll keep it eight legs to the wall!" Di laughed and started dancing like an idiot. These were the moments that defined being a killjoy to Atomic Diamond. The moments where you had happiness and color and light.
These were the moments defining why she'd never go back.
"Hit the gas, kill 'em all!" She sang, in between laughs. God, she loved this. Music and stupid dancing and freedom. Her face was slightly red and she fought for breath between laughter and lyrics.
Di was giggling so hard she missed the next line. "Love, gimme love, gimme love!" She sing-screamed, red with oxygen deprivation. She was having a blast.
(gotta go, gnite!)
((Night!!))
"I don't need it, but I'll take, what I want, from your heart, and I'll keep kit!" She sang, jumping around like crazy.
(proceeds to have nightmare, is awake)
"In a bag, in a box, put an "x" on the floor, gimme more! Gimme more! Gimme more!" Di pulled out an air guitar, jumping around like Fun Ghoul at a Fabulous Killjoys show.
((You okay?))
Heart laughed, stopping to double over, purple hair falling in font of her face.
(eek uh not really?? there's… shit hit the fan. its the anniversary of said shit hitting said fan. tonight, the nightmare of conciousness will be better than the one haunting the corners of sleep)
Di smiled. "NA NA NA NA NA NA NA!" She kept getting more extavagant, trying to drown out the storm.
"NA NA NA NA NA NA NANANANA!" She sang, breaking heavily and hopping around.
