Clem sighed while shaking her head, a small smile on her face. She hopped into the driver's seat and waited for Jason to get into the passenger seat, then turned the engine on. She rolled the window down, looking at Dick and Tim. "See you boys there."
Ember chuckled, sticking her head in between both Jason and Clem. "About how far are we from The Academy?" She hummed, pulling her leg up onto the set under herself. "Just so I don't keep asking on the way there."
"Well, both Arkham Asylum and Gotham Academy are on the coast. Arkham is less so to make it harder for people to escape. And we'll have to be careful in the Academy: most of it is in ruins." Jason knew this stuff better than Clem.
"So you're saying…?" Ember asked as if he had just spoken crazy talk. "Long or short? That's all I'm asking." She clicked her tongue, seeming not to be as moody from before.
"Relatively short," Jason replied. "And from knowledge on how fast Clem drives, probably less than normal. Just a warning though: the Academy is rotting. You could step on a floorboard and go straight through. I'm not saying that you're not capable, not in the slightest. But it's an unpredictable place."
"Yeah I got it." She hummed pulling back so she could sit in her seat comfortably. "Watch my step, and watch my back. Shouldn't be too hard, I've already got step two done." Ember muttered, pulling her phone from her pocket. "Just let me know when we get there. Unless we need to discuss a plan now."
"No, we can wing it. Besides, Dad is unpredictable." With that, Clem fell silent. There was a lot running through her mind, more than she thought she might be able to handle.
"You wanna talk Clem? Get it off of your chest?" Ember asked softly, clicking her phone back off. The way she spoke, and how quickly she went quiet worried Ember. "I certainly don't mind if you do. I'm sure Jason doesn't either."
"Not now, no. I'd rather get this over and done with before talking about my feelings. I don't want to overload myself." Clem knew what would happen, and it had already happened once that day. The scary thing about her powers was they could turn on her in an instant, bringing back memories it had repressed itself.
Ember didn't know everything, but she knew a little bit. She knew when not to push her limits, right now was then. Clem would end up driving them off the road, and what followed after, was not something Ember wanted to experience. "Alright, then we get there, save Lucy, and get out. I'll fill in the details later."
"Yeah. Yeah, let's do that." Clem was reduced to silence, retreating into her own thoughts as she focused on driving. It wasn't very often that this happened - the psychopath blessed onto her by her parents was ever present, rarely shutting up.
"Am I pledging everyone to silence?" She wondered in a groan, slumping back into her seat. Of course, wherever she went, things would get awkward. "I bet if I wasn't here, she'd be pouring her heart out to Jason."
(sorry for not replying to this sooner. i opened it when you last replied and it was like 2:30am so i decided to reply when I woke up)
Clem gripped the steering wheel, knuckles turning ever so white. If she was being honest with herself, she didn't want either of her companions with her. She felt like she needed to be alone. Not that that was possible.
(It's all good! Where I live it was around like… 8am I think. So you're all good :P)
Ember ran her fingers through her hair, chewing on her lip in thought. She was getting anxious stuck in the back of this car, her legs beginning to cram. 'I should've gone with Tim and Dick…' She mentioned to herself, drumming her fingers on the knee.
"Are you sure you're ready for this?" Jason asked softly, having his own thoughts running through his head. "Not about the fighting Joker thing, about the Lucy thing. It's a huge step, not just for you but for me as well. Are you sure you're ready?"
"I think it's the only thing I can do, really."
The conversation interested her, so she listened quietly and intently. It was important, she could tell by the tone in their voices. Whatever it was, she didn't know, but it was about Lucy. Someone important to Ember.
(sorry I was having some family issues, will you give me a brief update)
(Aww I’m sorry, hope everything is alright!)
(I don’t really know where to start. A lot has happened.)
(everything is fine now and you guys have done so much work without me, a couple of pages)
(We didn’t know what happened to you… well I guess we should wait for @Ghost_Spider_The_Tired_Pansexual to come back)
(I’m just thinking, I don’t know where to fit you in to this, so we should ask them where you should come in at. I can’t exactly give you a rundown, because my phone is small and it might go ballistic on me if I try and type it all out.)
(i cant really help either. i was thinking the same thing, and i really dont know how your character could come in. and i dont have time to summarise it either - im still super busy with school cause my state's not closing its schools (i live in queensland))
The conversation interested her, so she listened quietly and intently. It was important, she could tell by the tone in their voices. Whatever it was, she didn't know, but it was about Lucy. Someone important to Ember.
"This is a huge responsibility, Clem."
"I know Jason. I can handle her. How different is it gonna be to when we babysit her? No different. We'll be fine. I'm sure of it."
(The only thing I can think of is their character getting lost, and having to text in that she has to meet them at their next location)
Ember figured out what they were talking about, trying to bit back her tongue. 'Don't interrupt, don't do it Ember.' She scolded herself, in attempt not to speak up.
