"You know where we're going. I go there all the time because it's basically the only place Jason hangs out. And I like it because it's dark…and the giant penny."
"You know where we're going. I go there all the time because it's basically the only place Jason hangs out. And I like it because it's dark…and the giant penny."
"I hate you so much. You couldn't have picked anywhere else?" She asked, her smile dropping leaving a grimace behind. "I'd rather go anywhere but the Batcave for an evening. And Batman drives me batty."
"I know he drives you batty but Jason and I have been dating for years. As far as I'm aware you should be used to it. And Bruce is the one helping mum reform."
"We're suppose to be villains Clem, why are you mingling with the heroes?" Ember asked, more to herself than anything. "I shouldn't be going with you, with the amount of things I've done. They could be luring me into a trap so I can be taken to prison…"
"I've done bad things as well. I've killed people. Maybe not as many or as bad as you, but I have. And as long as I'm there, they won't do anything. I swear on my life."
Ember sighed, and looked over to her friend with a tight frown. "I'm entrusting a lot in you, don't screw this up." She muttered, turning to face to window. She was attempting to think clearly, but the buzz of the drink was still stuck with her.
"Ditto," Clem mumbled, beginning to drive. She knew exactly where she was going, and she hoped Violet wouldn't lose her.
The car was quiet now, and Ember was already half asleep. Drowsiness was over coming her, and she couldn't keep herself awake for long.
Clem zoomed through the city. It was fast but quiet, and she could understand if the lull of the engine had helped Ember sleep. If she wasn't driving, she could have fallen asleep herself."
"How long until we're there?" She asked in a mutter, trying to keep from sleeping.
"Not long. Five minutes, tops."
"Thank the heavens." She mumbled, turning to face her friend. "You know I'm not mad right?"
Clem smiled, though it was too dark to see. "I know you're not. We've been through too much for this to suddenly break us apart. I wish there was another option but there's not."
"I think you just want an excuse to see your boyfriend." She teased, bumping her arm with her elbow. A teasing smile was on her lips, when she put more emphasis on boyfriend.
"Come on, that's just a bonus," Clem returned. It was quite true though: Jason was a highlight of going to the batcave. "We're here, anyway." She drove into the side of a cliff, a wall that turned out to be an illusion.
She had already gripped the handle of the seat, bracing herself for nothing. "I hate that so much." She muttered under her breath, loosening up her grip. "So much I hate that."
"Haha, yeah. But you get used to it," She said, bringing the car to a stop. She began tom climb out, honking her horn to let them know she'd arrived. "Now, if it's not too much to ask, please behave."
"What do you take me for?" She asked with a slight smirk, stepping out of the car. "A trickster?" She hummed, sliding the deck of cards from her pocket. "Because I prefer the term con artist."
Clem rolled her eyes as she locked the car, walking in the direction that she knew would take her to the actual Batcave. She'd brought her mallet with her out of her car, wanting a weapon in case things went sour - not that they would.
"What's that about? You worried I'm going to pummel someone?" She asked jokingly, shuffling the card deck.
"You never know when things will go sour. I might be Jason's girlfriend but things can still go wrong."
"True," She snickered, smiling. Half skipping, she felt her sanity slowly slipping, and she grew unsteady. "Catch me if I knock myself out."
"You won't," She smiled back, though she wasn't confident in her answer. "Hey Batsy!" She yelled out as she entered the main section of the Batcave. Batman, Robin, Red Robin, Red Hood and Nightwing turned to look. She gave a small, thankful smile towards Red Hood - he'd enlisted everyone just to help her find her sister. The five of them unmasked themselves, and Clem was glad to see Jason with his little tuft of white in his hair.
Keeping herself upright, she dropped her smile, and walked with confidence over to the group. "Should we wait for Vi?" She asked under her breath as they came up to the group. Her frown stayed on her lips, as if she was determined to show she didn't like being here.
Clem walked over to Jason and pulled him to the side a little. "Thanks for getting everyone to help. Lucy's really important to mum and I don't know what would happen if she died."
"It's fine. Your dad might have literally killed me but I'm always gonna be there for you. Your dad doesn't affect my relationship with you."
"Thanks Jason." She stood up on her tip-toes slightly to kiss his cheek, her heels already rendering her almost tall enough.
