My friend and I have decided that my backup character is going to Jesus and i was wondering if anyone wants to help me fully flesh him out. He is sneakily named Je'suis Krisp. He will be working miracles which is why he is a wizard. But should he be a monk or a cleric? Its been decided that he is Lawful Good
Would he be a pacifist monk that only fights when necessary? Jesus didn't really fight a lot, he mostly worked miracles and took some beatings for everybody else. If made a cleric then would his deity just be himself (lol)? I feel like this could go either way as both classes are suitable for Je'suis Krisp. Maybe choose whichever one you think you would have more fun playing as?
I would experiment with making him a paladin, or a paladin/wizard multi-class character. Divine spells, rewards through faith, that sort of thing. For how you could approach this from a roleplaying perspective, I have a couple of ideas:
- Deal nonlethal damage whenever possible. (lament death)
- Utilize diplomacy and knowledge of religion to attempt to win people over frequently, even when it is not deemed the most prudent option.
- Do not be afraid to show strength and even force when the first two options fail. Present yourself as having strength and choosing to abstain for the sake of having faith in other people and providence. However, faith will not save your life, and as a character, you know that. Be a champion of faith, not a mouthpiece.
- Offer charity to NPCs and even other characters when it is apparent they are in hardship.
- Have patience on a superhuman level for the ridiculousness caused by fellow players or NPCs. (in character, of course)
- Should the time come and death looms, sacrifice yourself without concern that your life will end. Perhaps another party member is about to be killed. Perhaps a child has become possessed by a vengeful spirit and it goes against your values/religion to kill or even fight them. Perhaps the battle is all but lost and you're caught in a hopeless last stand, having just a few moments to put the last word in the book of your life.
Just a few ideas that came to mind. Hopefully your GM is savvy on the uptake of character motivations will create opportunities to define yourself as a character.
Should he be lawful good, though?
Jesus was a rule-breaking revolutionary, in canonical text.
In a way, a Jesus-like character should respond to a higher power. He should be a religiously affiliated wizard.
A slow-burn patience. Great restraint, but when he gets angry, he gets 'running through a temple with a whip' angry. Holy wrath, you might say.
And you might have him satirically trying to get drunk with water-turned-wine before doing something stupid or life-ending.
He's gotta have high charisma, as Jesus was a very popular speaker for the Jewish community. He was a king, as well as a representative, for the Jewish people in matters against the Roman Empire.
A likable guy. Jesus was a nice, chill guy who likes kids. No one really hated him except for the people he was destabilizing. He gained a massive following among the poor, and a fair respect among certain members of the aristocracy.
