For now, I’m not too too worried in terms of realism. I’ll provide a little bit of backstory for the universe and then a description of the creature.

The universe this creature resides in is very similar to ours, with the addition of supernatural creatures that only certain people can see, or people trained with the ability can sense (keyword, sense, not see.) Most of the world are unaware of these creatures as they rarely interfere with the natural world but sometimes they do. Ghost Towns, places that have been abandoned and such, are often hotspots for these creatures to live in the natural world. Sometimes, they might choose an occupied house, which a person who can see or sense the creatures (usually the latter) is hired to deal with them using methods such as salt or symbols worn on the person or placed around the house (like the cross for example, though depending on the creature this may or may not work.)

Onto the creatures, they are currently named the Throvhix.

Throvhix are described as stealthy yet violent predators. They are invisible, even to people that should be capable of seeing them. The only ways to truly see them is via reflective surfaces (a mirror, for example. Even a glass of water works.) and even then their forms are described as a shadowy mass, and a mouth filled with razor, pearly white sharp teeth and sometimes a long black tongue.

While invisible, they are not like ghosts and can affect the real world around them when they move, but can make themselves nearly silent when moving to hunt. Due to this, they can also be seen if a substance such as paint is thrown onto them (though this risks the angering of the creature.)

Out of the whole supernatural stuff, Throvhix generally feed on creatures with a heat signature. The larger, the better. In the Natural world (our world), They generally stay in groups of 2-8, but sometimes stay solitary. When in the ‘Unnatural’ Dimension, their home dimension, they usually prefer staying invisible but their true forms can sometimes be sighted in this universe. They also do have genders. Most of the species is female; with the females being larger compared to most normal males, but the Preliator, a male only class of their species is an expectation to this rule. The Preliator also prefers to stay in his home world.
In the Unnatural world, they stay in groups called Hives, where they form nests in dark, swamp like habitats. To most creatures, including humans, it is extremely hard to breathe here, but to Throvhix, this is heaven to them.

To reproduce, while they can so with a mate, (the Preliator is commonly the one) they reproduce asexually (Parthenogenesis), usually.

A Throvhix’s true form in the Unnatural world is described as “humanoidish, big reptile like creatures. Little to no features on their bodies, bigger than humans, but smaller than elephants. Long tails and freakishly long claws designed to pierce skin or armour like butter. Pale skinned, kinda like a beige almost. Faces extend out slightly like a snout but not by much; mouth can open like a snakes. No visible eyes.”

In the Natural world, their shadows can also be visible if there is daylight.

@hollow-boned

i think that's a really original take on the supernatural, the whole sensing thing is pretty cool

the monster itself is very interesting, although its shape in the unnatural world reminds me of the mutts in the third hunger games book so if you weren't intentionally going for that, maybe change them slightly? other than that, really cool. good job!

I see what you mean, and I’ve changed up their design a little bit, as well as adding variation depending on where they live in the Unnatural world. Regarding appearances in the Natural world it isn’t as important since they’re invisible (mostly.)
I’m changing up the skin colour thing, adding in a bit of variation based off of colours of animals that might live in dark areas or swamps, or just areas with a lot of trees. I’ll keep a few of them the original beige-gray though.

The similarity was completely unintentional lol, I was a bit surprised when I saw how similar they were so thanks for letting me know.

Thanks!
