Does anyone have any ideas for some neat creatures?

This is actually where i’ve always struggled. Usually I just go off of classsic mythological creatures and modify them slightly to fit the world I’m writing in.

Thats pretty much what I do to. Sometimes I'll combine like four animals into one, some of them look really cool others look monstrous.

Chimera's are a good idea, you could also try combining plants or types of rocks or minerals with animals and see what happens!

That's a neat idea @doug! I usually just try and decide what size, personality, and abilities I wan't the creature to have, and then base it off of that. For example, if I wanted a companion for one of my shy characters I might invent a butterfly like creature but change some of its features and give it a fancy name; like SilverMiri. Then I just make it different in some ways from normal butterflies, because lets face it, it's really difficult to come up with a brand new creature without taking some elements from other animals.
