In Gems of the Stars, I am writing dragons in the plot. They have lore in the story, and since there are already people with cat features that can turn into cats, should I have dragons have a human form?
Shapeshifting creatures are always good, but why not shake it up a bit? I personally think it would be cool if the dragons had an other form that was something else entirely. Like, imagine if a mighty dragon decided to attract less attention and tuned into a goat or something else unexpected. Of course, if you have several different kinds of beings with a human form and an other form already, the dragons having a human form would fit. I'm just throwing ideas around
My favorite dragon idea is one that consists of having dragons like birds. It's like tiny dragons perched on rooftops and frying their prey, stealing ice cream, just doing bird-like stuff.
@Nerd That's freaking adorable. Dragons in Gems of the Stars already steal livestock, so why not babies steal ice cream?
@birsma I only have cat-humans in Gems of the Stars, but maybe I could take inspiration from Fire Emblem and have the dragons have to revert to human form to survive maybe an illness that only affects dragons. Interestingly, that's why humans started breeding with cats because cats couldn't catch a deadly illness that humans had. (it affected some other creatures too, not to the point where the other creatures died, though)
@Flowerfur If that's why there's cat people in your world I say go with that. I can only imagine how bitter a dragon who has to revert to a human for health reasons could be.
Argh, now I have to decide what makes dragons different from normal humans and it can't be fluffy ears or a fluffy tail because that's what makes cat humans different visually.
Just a suggestion, but when role playing with dragon humanoids, my partner and I tend to distinguish them by slitted eyes with double eyelids(used for protection when underwater, flying, or in severe weather). They also tend to have faint scales along their cheeks, the ridges of their slightly pointed ears, and the back of their hands. Some of our humanoids have wings, tending to connect along the back of the shoulder below the collarbones. A few have slight tails or ridges along their backs, as well as possibly naturally pointed nails/claws. They also sometimes have pointed teeth or larger canines, and tend to eat more meat than the average person. Hope this helps to inspire you!!
ARGH now I can't decide between subspecies of dragons or different looking dragons
