That's not really an accurate description, but I have a character named Sophie and when she was five, her family was in a car crash. Her siblings survived but her parents didn't. She knows her older brother survived but the government thinks he is dead and he's also in hiding. She refuses to admit he's dead, so how would she know he's still alive after all these years, what would doctors and the brain people counselor thingys (don't remember what they're called) say/think?
So are you asking how to write characters with PTSD? Or something else? (I'm confused)
Yes, she has PTSD (pretty bad) but she's saying her brother is still alive (the government thinks he's dead) so what would doctors do about that? Like, he's dead, but she's adamant he's alive, would they put her on some kind of medication or something? Words are hard
How long has it been exactly since the accident? you mention she was five at the time at that it has been years but still…
I don't think that it would be something that would be considered fixable with medicines which are usually more focused on regulating chemicals within the brain.
I suppose they would put her on some sort of medication. If she has a bad case of PDST and all. If she says her brother is still alive but the government has giving faults evidence that the brother is dead, the hospital will most likely think she is crazy and therefore put her on meds. + If you say this all happened when she was five and nows she's, idk, several few years older? That means she has been dealing with this stress for all those years (Or how much time has passed since then). Suffering from terrible PDST or stress for a looong time and not getting it fixed does have bad effects on the body, physically and mentally.
It's been 11 years and when they realized she wasn't letting the brother thing go or getting "better" (like a few months later), they put her through a lot of therapy and now she's a lot better and she doesn't remember a lot of stuff but she still has nightmares occasionally. So I guess it's really not very important for now but I just wanted to know thanks
