What nightmares have you put your babies through that they felt the need to rebel against their creators?

Using my same son I started the other thread with, Ram lost his best friend to a car/moose accident, then got kidnapped and basically tortured for five years, finally escaping only to face a life of never ending hiding and running from the people who'd kidnapped him. I'm sorry, baby, I love you I promise…

Dakota, wuff, I don't even know where to start. Long story short, everyone they ever knew either abandoned or betrayed them, died, or Dakota ended up killing them. They've been destined to be alone forever, and while they may be happy with that as an idea, how it happened was beyond painful, even to them. Again, Dakota, I love you very, very much, I'm so sorry this happened to you.

@LemonGirl

(Warning, this character's backstory might be triggering to some people, so be cautious!)

One of my characters ended up way more tsundere than I meant for him to be. He was supposed to be a cold hard killing machine, a BAMF who could not be swayed in his quest to purge the world of supernatural creatures, and a general a-hole on the side…

And then he ended up befriending another hunter, who did not share his ideals.

Long story short, he ended up kind of co-godfathering a knight of hell after his friend kidnapped his time-controlling mutant mother, forcing her to be his slave for years. He also ended up babysitting training his daughter from another timeline(?), who he coincidentally once kidnapped and stabbed, and who has stabbed him in retaliation at least once.

But then again, when he was eighteen his dad and little sister were killed at a restaurant shooting, and his mom ended up committing suicide a few weeks later. Then a demon possessing the corpse of his dead sister tricked him into signing away his soul (in twenty years) in exchange for temporarily reanimating said corpse…

So yeah, I guess it's deserved.

I feel so bad for my baby Freddie but also I'm just so confused how he progressed into this??

So basically I always knew that Freddie was going to be a little crazy cause he grew up in a bad household so he makes up an imaginary friend who he ends up falling in love with (and the book is set so that the reader will also believe that Freddie's boyfriend is an actual person) but then shit happens and he realizes that the guy he's in love with is just a figment of his imagination and yeah idk I hadn't really figured out the ending.

~This could be triggering, sorry!!~

But then, idk how, this became some kind of murder mystery prison story?? So now Freddie's mom died when he was really young and his dad basically blames him for it and abuses him for his entire childhood, this leads Freddie to start using hard drugs because he was afraid of his emotions. So then one day he sees this guy on the street and imdieatly becomes obsessed with him and is convinced that they're soulmates (his brain is messed up from drugs), so he starts stalking him and being really creepy then accidentally sees that his soulmate is straight and has a girlfriend. Freddie's dad was always very homophobic and harshly abused Freddie because he's gay so because of this Freddie has a hatred for pretty much all straight people. So Freddie ends up murdering his soulmate but is too high to realize what's happened so when he wakes up in jail he has no memories of what's happened and still believes that his soulmate is alive. No one explains to him what he's in for, so for the next ten years or so he's convinced that his soulmate is still out there waiting for him (his brain is really fucked up from all the drugs). Then eventually his dad visits him in jail and explains what happened. Freddie, who has been bottling up his emotions his entire life, cannot function with this new information and kills himself.

So yeah I don't know how my baby became so incredibly fucked up and now I feel really bad and it makes it even worse that I like him better now cause the plot's more interesting aaaah what's wrong with me lol

@betsy.cant.write

@ocean-bacon-12d3 AHHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I was really worried that the whole plot would seem to dramatic or something idk but I'm really glad you liked it!!! I know I'm gonna write something but idk if its gonna be a full book or just a short story but either way with my writing process it'll probably take a year lol, but tysm that really means a lot!!

My characters are all just assholes honestly. Most of the things they have to go through are their fault.

@I-make-stuff

My character Meryn was supposed to be a really sweet and open girl, but she ended up being a distant, feminine badass who is a cinnamon roll when she wants to be. So she was a test tube baby, but not just any test tube baby - she put the 'test' in test tube baby. Like, she was genetically edited to be an experimental type of human that could be used as humans travel to space. She photosynthesizes like a plant and produces enough oxygen to be self-sufficient assuming she has sunlight, and she doesn't need to eat (so her friends are a little concerned for her, because she produces more than enough glucose to survive - so much so that it comes out in her perspiration, making her smell like sugar all the time). She also is bioluminescent, which is subtle but still bothers her. Her body also repairs itself/recovers a lot faster than an average person. Anyway, she's thinks her "powers" are cool but is really ashamed of the circumstances in which she was created, and has a mildly pessimistic worldview (at least at the beginning of her character arc). She's laconic verbally and usually just makes quips. But eventually she opens up to people eventually as she overcomes her shame, but man, she's a lot different than when I first created her as a super bubbly character.

Mind you: some explanation already made it in. Nonetheless: here goes.

I couldn't save Naomi's leg. The universe wanted her left shin, and it wasn't even entirely my fault.

I apparently led too many people to believe that CJ was straight. In my defense: there was almost exactly as much evidence for CJ being straight as there was for Naomi being straight (which she is not and has never been); but, apparently, "Konietzko's Lens" is all too real. CJ takes exception to Konietzko's Lens; while he hasn't confirmed that it's about him having been genuinely confused about his own orientation for a while, I suspect that may have played into it.

I tempted Brandee with what I thought would be her dream job. She actually kind of hated it, because it involved working on bro-trucks.

Kieron is no longer seven feet tall; and that disappointed him. When I almost reduced him to "only" 6'4" and 300#, he drew the line at that; being professional strongman huge was his idea of compromising. And he now insists that any insecurities he ever had over not having an aesthetic physique were resolved by high school football.

Talula got put in a memory hole on grounds of potentially being a "Mike Sierra." Now, she's sorta kinda back, faux-locs and all…and smirking smugly at all of us, because she probably developed the most organically out of any of my OCs (which, in light of the possibility that she's some sort of engineered transhuman, is perhaps ironic). Rude.

@sheabutter group

yeahhhhh I…
may or may not have had him locked in a facility to be experimented on because of his power.
and then forced him to kill his father.
and then forced him to watch his boyfriend die.
and then forced him to kill seven other people.
and he got back at me by dying. straight up. dying.

I think I did the other part of this discussion with Nyx.

When she was 5, her parents were killed, and she and her older brother, Frost, had to seek out the Guild of the Oracle. They then became part of the Guild, which resulted in Nyx training to be an assassin. Then her mentor, whom she was very close to, died, and Nyx had to take over her position at age 10, and from there killed people for the guild for the next 7 years. Then after Mara disbanded the Guild, Nyx lost one of her wings and then had to deal with never wanting to face Mara again, fell in love with a princess although she killed her mother, and then learned that half the people who died at her hands were killed because of mind control.
