My heroine's(Sophie) training is her saving her brothers and future love interests from and a group of sadistic men from an otome game who possessed them and is planning to subject their fans to some sort of agony, and the heroine sees that she has to save the fangirls in this situation, but theirs happens to be a strange girl from the same game as the boys, but she does help Sophie and her friends restore her brother and the other guys, but after they restore the last guy, Insato tries to kill off the fangirl off and her justification for this is that most of the fangirls hated her for literally being abused and not resisting enough and for inserting themselves into her situation and seeing her hellish situation as romantic and encouraging her creators to pump out more game of the series and says that by protecting them from her, Sophie is just as bad. I guess the theme is about supporting problematic context, I know killing off fans for liking something bad, is OBVIOUSLY wrong for obvious reasons, Anyway does Insato has somewhat of a point or is she completely wrong
From what I'm hearing: Insato does have a point, but I think it's unfair to blame the fangirls since in all probability they 1: thought it was just a game and nobody was actually getting hurt, and 2: the real troublemakers are the game devs who glorified and romanticized Insato's situation in the first place, thereby tricking the fangirls into doing the same.
So basically, Insato's side of the story definitely explains her actions, but in no way does it justify them. I think if you can make that clear to your readers, you're all good. I hope everything I just said made sense lol, I'm kinda tired rn ^^;
Thanks, I kinda had trouble with this seeing that both the fans and devs thought Insato wasn't a real person, and seeing that Insato was especially hurt by all the fans hating her for not be strong enough note: In-game her abusers were werewolves while she was a human to stop the abuse while romanticizing her actual abusers
Yeah, I feel like honestly this is a pretty realistic situation, lots of story characters can become unpopular or unliked if they're seen as too weak or helpless. It ain't a good thing at all, and I think it's great if Insato can show the world where the problem is, but still, she definitely shouldn't be killing anyone just to make a point. Glad to help! ^^
Yeah, I admittedly kind of relate to girls like Insato, I was never assertive and I can barely relate to most of the stronger heroines, who are always shown as superior, while girls who aren't as strong seen as inferior,
Yeah it's really unfair how a lot of female heroines these days have started drifting towards the trope of "might makes right in any situation". We definitely need to remember that everyone has weaknesses, and being "strong" doesn't always mean sacrificing gentleness or a quiet personality.
