Lindsey Stirling and the Oh Hellos showing up on this thread has me in TEARS!!!! For me it depends on the character–some are heavy on Billie Eilish, others get a lot of Saint Motel, a couple live off Lana del Rey. Weirdly, I also listen to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra a lot. Who knew?
(Ah yes, I love Saint Motel! For Elise is a great song :) but I gotta say, Move is one of my favorites)
(I adore them!!!! Destroyer always has me fired up, For Elise is my FAVORITE, You're Nobody Till Somebody Wants you dead is iconic… but Sweet Talk and My Type got me into the band, so gotta give some credit there.)
Artist: sophiemarie.b

(Sweet Talk and You’re Nobody Till Somebody Wants You Dead are both really hecking good dude XD. Glad I found someone else who loves their music!)
I don't know if I'm barging in but I found this topic hella interesting so… I listen to this one station based out in North Carolina and it's 99.1 The Sound. It's the Outer Banks alternative station and it plays some really good tunes.
I usually listen to whatever genre fits the scene I'm writing. So if I'm writing an action scene or just and exciting one in general, I'll listen to a playlist that hypes me up and if I'm writing a sad scene then I'll listen to sad music (that might make me cry). Just whatever gets you in the mood for what you're writing. And if it's something that doesn't really have a specific theme then I'll listen to instrumentals (like movie scores like @RainyDayArtist said) or music that's in a language that I don't know so it's not too distracting. Hope this helped :)
I just recently found a band called Lemon Demon, their stuff is really weird and fun! Been listening to them a lot while writing/drawing. My favorite song by them so far is Touch-Tone Telephone.

Touch-Tone Telephone is a great song! I’m also a fan of his song called Cabinet Man. And yeah, he has a really unique sound, but it’s great!

Yeah! I also like When He Died a lot.

It was a blessing to see a fellow Oh Hellos fan :D
I usually listen to Queen, U2, Johnny Hallyday, Imagine Dragons and rock in general. It depends on what I’m writing. When I’m writing something sad, I often listen to Billie Eilish.
When I write One Piece fanficwhich is very often, I listen to One Piece themes so I can get in the mood. I usually pick a theme that fits the mood of what I'm writing. Lately, I've been listening to 'Hope' a lot.
(I recommend it, if you have time)
I listen to soothing stuff. Like Aoba Ichiko. Or just some instrumental. I like stuff that're in minor keys, even if they aren't necessarily sad. Really though, anything that speaks to my soul at the moment. I actually have a list of artists I listen to, but it's a bit long, so I don't think I should post it.

Queen and U2 are definitely top bands for me. You gotta check out Joshua Tree (album from U2). It’s my favorite album of theirs. And then The Game by Queen, of course. I’m a big classic rock/older rock fan!

Oh boy oh boy, whenever I’m writing a fight scene I have to listen to some kind of anime intro/outro. A bunch of Jojo stuff, My Hero stuff, Noragami, Demon Slayer, etc… Guess One Piece is on my list now!

I love instrumentals so much too, especially if the mood fits them. As a pianist I love piano compositions way too much, and then accompaniments are beautiful, especially with cello. Fragment by Ever So Blue is really good, as well as Florentin by Joaquin Alejandro and Guinevere by Domitila James
Anything by The Oh Hellos, aka the people who write Solider, Poet, King. All their other songs are so good, I've been obsessed with their album Notos, Dear Wormwood, and Eurus! Also Sleeping at Last is amazing too! Highly recommend, especially for fantasy related thing (at least it helps me)
I listen to movie soundtracks, but it mainly revolves around Star Wars, The Lord of The Rings, and The Hobbit. But when I'm writing, I listen to Two Steps From Hell. They have the most amazing Instrumentals, for any mood.

Ahhh! Another Sleeping At Last fan and an Oh Hellos fan! I listen to them both way too often. I have a massive playlist of all SAL’s songs, but my favorites have got to be the Enneagram series, if not the Outer Space series or the Oceans. Then again, North East South and West are amazing songs too… so scratch that, I like all of them. And as for Oh Hellos, Eurus is a great album! I’ve listened to Dear Wormwood too, and I love it. Constellations was the first song I heard of theirs, from the Notos album, and of course I loved Hello My Old Heart, from just The Oh Hellos EP. Glad I found another fan!
i personally dont listen to that much music when i write, but when i do, it's usually vocaloid, upbeat songs, or just piano music.
i recommend new - daya
