So I've been toying around with the idea of making a group of characters in a high fantasy-type setting. Sort of like an adventuring team/company/what have you. So far I have six characters in mind, only three of which I have almost completely developed. Here is a quick review of each of them:
-
Faylen Bowsinger, a kind-but-wary female half-orc Ranger who wants to help people but has trouble because of the prejudice against her kind.
-
Laiken Shadowlurker, an antisocial male elf that has made himself a name as a cutthroat rogue in the underbelly of the city where he lives.
-
Snizzletook, a bard of unknown race with a cloak that covers his face in impenetrable shadow. He seems like a happy, carefree bard on the surface, but has a knowledge of the many creatures and lore of the realm only an individual of questionable background would have.
-
A 12-14 year old human girl who is the descendant of a very old, very dark family that ruled a group of villages before being attacked and killed by the armies of a conquering king (at least, that's what I'm going with). She ran away at a young age and has fended for herself. She was born with her family's ability to summon creatures from the realm of shadows, but is terrified of it and thinks she is a monster.
-
An honor-bound knight that cannot die until he has fulfilled his quest. He can't remember what it is, and so he has spent most of his days wandering the land in a half-dead state. He never takes off his armor so that no one will see his decayed body.
-
An Omniwraith thief with a reluctant moral compass. Omniwraiths are a nomadic species of shapeshifter that I created a while back. They have gray skin tones, white, black, or gray hair, and silver eyes. They can shapeshift into any animal up to three times their own mass. They are taller than humans and have a high metabolism.
My question is, what do you guys think of this concept? Is it too bland or too cliche? What are some tips you can give me to make it more interesting? Thanks in advance for ya'll's input!
