basically what it says on the tin,, like a chain thingy where you describe one of your characters, the next person responds with their most similar character and then describes another character of their own. idk I just thought it'd be fun to find other people's characters who are similar to our own!
so I'll start with Ember - an academic overachiever and trainee wizard who is desperate to win every single competition and get everything right in order to prove herself to her family and peers. willing to do whatever it takes to reach her goals (at least, that's what she tells herself). determined and bossy but very loyal. puts way too much pressure on herself and has a ton of anxiety that she's just trying to ignore until it goes away
(now the next person would respond with their most similar character and then a description of one of their other characters!)
Dude that sounds just like my girl, Elidi Nassaj–academic overachiever with chronic anxiety? ayup.
I'll continue it with my man Lybra San Disu - an outwardly confident pilot with a talent for thievery and dealmaking. An excellent leader, but secretly insecure about how well he's doing leading those people. fiercely loyal, well-trained, not easily forgiving, and a loud, determined personality. has, can, and will kill for his own sake or the sake of his friends.
ladkfj I'll have to go with Paisley. she's so determined and studious and puts so much pressure on her shoulders to not disappoint her Boss.
Okay okay, let's go with Killian:
Killian is a thirty-something year old man who used to be a world-renowned model. He was on every magazine cover and in every show, but when he turned thirty, the modelling agency told him that he was too old and cut him off. This sent Killian–a vain man–into a spiral. Eventually, he managed to pick himself up and became a drag queen known as Miss Demeanor. Killian is filthy rich, very gay, and has more money than anybody should have. He spends his money on huge fur coats and funds a rambunctious criminal's enterprises. He also has a weird frenemy/divorced/in love vibe with his best friend.
Oh I've got to say Algernon, if only for "vain gays with big coats" solidarity. I feel like if they met they'd either hook up or kill each other.
I think I'll drop in one of my newer characters: Ted Dugan, a private detective with a gruff exterior and a strong desire for both justice and money–but the money isn't for him, it's to protect his roommate, who he definitely is not in love with, what gave you that idea?
hmmm I have to go with qili because she too has a bit of a blunt, gruff outward appearance and a strong moral compass. and she too is DEFINITELY NOT in love with her best friend and shipmate nope not at all
okay next up we have nova ozaji: an aspiring singer, actor and agent of chaos. her many whims and ideas get her and her sibling and partner in crime robin into a lot of trouble, however, her ability to get into trouble is second only to her ability to get out of it. she loves parties and people, and her life moves at a hundred miles an hour because she keeps obsessing over new plans and ideas and then finding something even cooler to do
Sounds like Memphis me thinks, a high-on-life funky monkey who loves nothing more that the thrill of causing trouble. also suffers from SBD </3 (Stupid Bastard Disorder)
How about a spanner in the wreak- Waverly King
An 8-year-old boy who's been thrown into the think of it far too young. He's curious, kind, loves his brother and his scary humanoid guardian angel. also he's now an orphan oops
oooooo sooooo close to my boy Ben. Except he's not an orphan…….
Annabeth Powerssss <3
14-year-old who gets thrown into a universe on accident and knows everything about everything about it but refuses to tell the characters or ruin the plot line of the story-
uhhhh idk maybe Quinn, she's the only crewmate of the Steel Mast to have any common sense and refuses to divvy any of those braincells out. she actually also has a few prophetetic visions with her blood relation to one of the fallen gods, but she doesn't know this and think they're just funky dreams.
okay let's go with Darius "Hammy" Cunningham, a seventeen-year-old food service worker who is so tired and is just trying to pass AP Calc. he somehow befriended the two most wanted criminals in the city and finds himself tangled in all of their schemes. unfortunately also a theater kid
Fabian!! Just a little guy (he's like 19) who works in a temple and tries to teach the younger kids about the pantheon (just think teenage boy youth pastor lmao) when he gets appointed to be an assistant to a noble mage. He is juggling all of this and is sent out to deliver a message to someone, he gets lost and meets Kaia, a finfolk ex-corsair criminal wanted for a lot of petty crimes and being a general nuisance. Before he knows it he is roped into her silliness and meets many, many other people (people who have committed a lot of crimes, to be specific).
And for the other I'm gonna use one of my favorite characters, Damien Ambers, a pirate ship captain. He is obsessed with astronomy and star maps, and though he is wanted in all four factions, a very kind soul. More than he is a pirate, he is an adventurer with a love for the sky and sea.
Not necessary for the next character but I think it is also worth mentioning that he is partially canine and already died at sea by the time the main plot begins, as he is a side character.
!!! omg he reminds me of my character Bane who is the captain of the Steel Mast!!! symbolism wise, he is the sea and his younger sister is the stars. granted he's a pirate captain, he's also a criminal but the Ultimate Big Brother figure to everyone!!!
ooogh for my next one I'll go with Jesi, a high school girl that usually just fades into the background. she loves her people and is big on preserving their culture, which is dying (she's Lakota) and has big dreams. unfortunately those dreams are cut short when the end of the world is announced and she ends up travelling the world with a stranger and learning what it means to be human along the way. she's sarcastic and stubborn but really sweet and creative and AGH yeah
I think I might go with Norkhal’rokh. He’s a wandering historian that travels the world, collecting ancient tomes to repair and preserve them (so far, he’s got a small library full of them). He’s jaded and unsociable, and also a 4,000 year old vampire that prefers remaining in the shadows. But, when he meets a sassy mechanist that challenges every part of his personality, he realizes that some people are worth keeping as friends.
For the second character, let’s go with Evaen. He’s a club owner, assassin guild leader, and arms-dealer. He’s vain, loves the color purple, and is basically the epitome of a ruthless gangster. On the other hand, he’s a very charming guy and is just as likely to play a casual game of poker with an old friend as he is to assassinate someone.
KANE ARACHNID!!! my man Kane Arachnid is a middle aged man who has a strange affinity to correctly predicting all sorts of fortunes. tarot, crystal ball, palms, dice, you name it. Kane Arachnid knows it all. he's kind of sleazy, a little flirty, and loves to gamble, but never without his favorite pistol strapped to his side. he co-owns Hawthorne Ridge Circus Troupe and is the Funky Uncle to all of the acts
hmmmmmmm ooh! Rhyda O'Connell is a blind sniper who never misses her mark. she's superhuman, been experimented on since the age of eleven. she's always sleeping (she snores a lot) or stuffing her face with takeout. she's blunt and kind of mean but she definitely has her goals and would do anything to protect them. she's also my lesbian girlboss who is way too smooth to have that bad of a fashion taste (her favorite bands are Queen and SOAD)
(Ooh… Kane’s one of my favorites out of your characters, big grin. Just a little comment. I’ll vanish now, lol)
Reminds me of Milo, a traveling bard who got way too into his head with a magical ritual and now has certain skills and abilities, including his voice, confined to enchanted rings! He's a bit of a heavy drinker and is mean and sarcastic with a soft side he will rarely, if ever, show to others. Some would say he's efficient to the point of ruthlessness in his goals.
For the next character, I will go with Auran Melra! They are the caretaker of an ever expanding library that was once renowned through the land. He was a statue for a bit but got better (kind of) - remnants of the curse remain in the left side of their face. They are generally apathetic and hard to get riled up with a not quite human air to them. His knowledge primarily comes from books and other written texts and as such knows very little about the real world.
Kinda similar to my Jonah, a spindly little twig who is sort of the personification of my autistic traits (/pos) w/ a lil extra personality. They're a massive nerd who loves sunglasses, shiny things, bright colorful outfits, memorizing trivia, and the sound of their own voice. v v slightly inhuman energy. They also take very easily to magic bc they think SO MUCH and so broadly.
Next character: Lucy. He never goes by his actual full name, because I'm very stupid and thought "ooh! a boy named lucy!!" and then gave him trauma around the name so I can't even show it off.
Lou (the name he actually uses) has been an apprentice to a magical healer named Ezra since he was ~11 years old. Ezra is very abusive (rapid sounds of me deleting and re-typing all the names I want to call him and realizing I don't think I've ever heard anyone really swear on here lmao)
Lou is very absentminded and spacey, a result of being essentially drugged for 5+ straight years. He often uses his magic to manifest wings. Mainly, he enjoys social gatherings, flying, driving around to no particular destination, and taking naps. I think he'll probably also take up sewing at some point.
