I just finished my main character's bio and although I'm really happy with her, I feel like I could benefit significantly from someone else's opinion. Her whole bio is pretty long, so if you don't feel like critiquing the whole thing (and don't feel any pressure to) please just focus on the nature section. I don't feel as confident with that section. Thank you guys so much in advance!!!
My main question is to what your intent with this character is. Is she part of a novel? Written work? Something more visual like a comic or animation?
You have a lot of very specific details that make up the majority of her description, but if she is intended to be a character in writing, a lot of these details (how important is it really that we know that the helix piercing on her left ear is a small stud? Saying that she has various piercings on her ears tells us all we need to know.) would be completely unnecessary. I'll tell you from experience that you absolutely will not use every detail you mentioned here (maybe not even 75% of them), and trying to shove in all of them will lead to convoluted exposition and more for the reader to keep track of. There's nothing bad with having small details for your character, but when your character's whole description is specific examples and nothing more big-picture or comprehensive it can overwhelm a reader (or a creator!).
I think Rynn has a strong basis and you clearly have put a lot of thought into her. Just make sure you aren't overworking the details :)
@JumboJimbo2020 thank you so much for your critique! reading over that was very helpful. i definitely agree that the reader would be overwhelmed reading all of the little details in her bio, however, most of those little details have been put in more for me to keep track of as opposed to being put in the story. putting down specifics about where here earrings are or other things like that helps me visualize her if that makes sense. i’ll definitely have to go back over it and cut out any unnecessary details. thanks again!
