👏👏👏
ALRIGHT HERE ARE MY ISSUES SO LISTEN UP:
So long story short I have one character who’s name is Zara and she is a vampire and had a girlfriend named Eva. Vampires in my world work a bit different then your “Twilight” bois. They really only need to drink a lot of blood once each month rather than whenever they are hungry. The amount varies on the vampire themselves and how active they are but that not important.
Now I’m not going to in-depth with backstory but Eva isn’t the best around blood and dating a vampire isn’t really the best way to avoid it but either way my girls love each and won’t breakup over Zara’s basic need of food. Eva sees it like breaking up with someone just because they eat a food you don’t like. (Btw if anyone isn’t the best around gore or bloody things what actually happens to you? Do you get sick or feel nauseous? Just a quick question but not my main one..)
Anyways Zara hates making Eva feel uncomfortable and despite the talks they’ve had Zara thinks that the only way to no longer make this a problem is
to basically starve herself little by little. As in not eating the right amount she should be.
Now the whole “bloodlust”thing is more when vampire are starved of food. None of this Finding Nemo shit when they smell the faintest bit of blood they just
👁👅👁
Nah none of that.
So later in Zara kills Eva in a state of bloodlust and it obviously effects her a lot. So my question is:
a)does this seem believable/logical? If you were to read this would you think it’s stupid or fine
b) what would the trauma be like? What would happen if Zara was to relive the trauma after grieve for s but?
Idk I’m not super cleat with writing this but if y’all what me to elaborate on anything I’ll be happy to!
First of all, I just asked my friend and he said that when he sees blood he starts to feel a little nauseous because to him, blood is supposed to be inside the body and if you can see it on the outside of the body it means someone is hurt or severely unwell.
Secondly, what do you mean by believable/logical?
And finally, are you asking what the trauma would be like for Zara since she kills the love of her life?
By logical I mean if it seems like what an actual person would do. I know that we are talking about vampires and all but sometimes I can’t help but think it feels like Zara is overreacting by starving herself.
And just to clarify about the killing Eva part, I have a part in my story (about 3 years after the incident) where they face a shapeshifter/ mind reader who’s goal is to try and get you to sell your soul by turning into someone you trust. For Zara she would obviously see “Eva”again.
But because of protagonist plot armour she still lives but it’s more of how would she react afterwards since then she would be starting to get over the grief. Like would she be set back at square one or would it even bother her.
Sorry if I make no sense I find it hard to explain this without an essay of context.
I'm not sure how I can help but I just wanted to say that this story sounds awesome and I love your profile pic!
Okay so…
Firstly, Zara is not overreacting by starving herself. People go to extreme lengths to be with the person they love, I know this from experience. To be with my boyfriend as much as possible, I turned my back on my family and social life because I am still scared that every day will be the last day I see him.
As for Zara's reaction, no, she wouldn't be back to square one. She would be thrown into a state where she would give anything to change what happened, to go back and stop herself from killing Eva. However she would also have that sense of reasoning, due to the fact that she has started to come to terms with what she did. Yes, it will hurt her, but if she's a strong woman then she will take that encounter with the shapeshifter to prove that she is capable of moving on.
I hope that makes sense.
It does make a lot of sense and I can’t thank you enough for helping me 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Ah it's no problem, I'm glad to be of help
I think Zara overreacts, especially if she knows starvation might cause her bloodlust - she's basically endangering her girlfriend's life for the purpose of making her feel kinda less uncomfortable once a month. It's not like her relationship hinges on it (which would be horrible in itself), they've talked about this and Eva is willing to deal with her base needs (which is… kind of the bare minimum for a relationship ^^;). (Plus I don't really see why Eva would have to be present when Zara eats? Unless she's feeding off Eva?) So unless Zara already has some mental issues to begin with, like an irrational fear of abandonment or something, it doesn't really make sense to me to be honest.
She does technically have abandonment issues(?) She was bitten by a vampire when she was 15 and basically watched her parents get killed by the same vampire (it was an accident that’s she became one in the first place).
She was left to figure out what she became all alone until she was around 25 (quick note is that when you are bitten by a vampires your body doesn’t age. If you are born one you do age but slowly) and found out about the world vampire come from.
She also didn’t realize or pay attention to how much she was starving herself, I think that’s common with eating disorders of not paying attention to your body’s reaction to less food. She didn’t know she would lose her cool when Eva was there either. Vampire also don’t go into bloodlust often enough for you to be concerned, just as you wouldn’t be concerned about getting struck by lightning in a light rain.
Maybe I would have to change up some of the feeding times/system for vampires ( or Zara specifically) it would seem a bit much in the end. Not really that big of a change if I really had to.
Oh I see, that makes more sense then :)
But if you do have any other critiques about the whole situation, it is a big part of her character and could possibly make or break her arc. Any thoughts are well received
