My characters name is August Bailey, should I choose something more normal for a modern day story?

Honestly, that name sounds normal enough. I don't personally know anyone with that first or last name, but I've seen the names before (and most if not all people have), so it shouldn't be a problem. Another thing is you don't want a protagonist with a basic or plain name necessarily… that can make them forgettable (doesn't always, but it can). Even if you do decide to change the name later, though, it's not a big deal.
I agree that it sounds normal enough. I quite like it, actually.
Alright, thanks! I think I’m going to keep his name the way it is.
It's a nice relatable name, like I feel like I could know an August Bailey. Every single MG and YA book nowadays has characters with names like Metropolis Kazoo or Gingerbread Snowball.

Lol
It has a quaintness to it that's pretty charming especially if your character is more of a sweet soul. But aside from that I don't know if this is what you were shooting for but it sounds a lot like a like a name of a character in like a John Green novel.
Don’t bring back those memories
