One of my characters frequently goes by a nickname, but a lot of people call her by her full name too. When I'm writing, I'm not sure if I should address her by her actual name or her nickname (when I'm just writing narration). Tips?
Thanks :D
Well its more common to call your characters their nickname. But make sure the reader knows their real name too
What does your character introduce herself as, the full name or the nickname? The most common answer is probably going to have the most impact. For example, a girl who goes by Liz is going to have a different reaction to someone calling her Elizabeth than a girl who introduces herself as Elizabeth has to someone calling her Liz (if that makes any sense ^^; ).
Here's a suggestion: have characters who are close to your character with a nickname call her by said nickname and acquaintances call her by her real name.
