I'm working on some characters all named and roughly based on the Greek Gods (I know it's a bit of a cliche but I think I'm going to roll with it anyway, they're not the main characters any how), and I want to give Aphrodite a nickname, but I'm not sure what. I thought of Ro, but that's about it. Any Ideas?
Aphy may work
I also like Ro as well
or Dot for th dite part of her name but that depends on what kind of person she is.
I like Ro^^
And maybe Aph (pronouced Aff)
But I really like Ro
Ooh, I like Dot! Aph's good too, it's kind of slang, like "Hey Aph', come here!" Thanks for the ideas!
Vainus, you know cuz, like Venus is known to be vain or something
Adi sounds good if it was pronounced like addy or something. I also really like Ro.
or dite when pronounced american yk like didy
(assuming you're talking to me) thank you
rodi, ro, or dot. depends on what the character is like tho. like, would they put up with being called dot? does it suite them?
Keep in mind that a nickname isn't always necessarily derived from one's name. For example, my name's Brycen but one of my nicknames is Churro. Maybe Aphrodite's nickname could be some kind of inside joke with her friends.
what about 'Fro?' she could also have an afro hairstyle, to make it work a little more
What @Mindful_Bison said. You can also base a nickname of-of their personality or appearances like Pixie for someone who's had a pixie haircut for as long as someone can remember or Monkey because they're energetic and always sit on walls or something.
Does the main character know she's Aphrodite? Maybe something based on her legends then.
Aro (since her son is Cupid/Eros ha)
or go find names of the other love goddesses from different cultures and use one of those
