So, I asked a while back what each of these names make you think, and I got some pretty split and contriadictory answers, but I am getting to a point wher ki(e)ra is becoming a big part of the plot and I don’t want to have to fix the name later so I need to decide, and I still haven’t.

TLDR?
This time I’m asking, out of Kira and Kiera, which name better suits this character description? Ki(e)ra is Bi-racial, her mom is white and her dad is black. She’s a high school senior and is very popular and likable, but isn’t super genuine all of the time. She doesn’t like responsibility very much (runs from the idea of being the chosen one) because she wants the freedom to live her life how she see’s fit without tons of people depending on her.

So, does that seem more Kira or Kiera? Whichever name gets more positive feedback in the next two days is the final name for this character.

Kira, its the more common spelling. It also insures that people will see it and recognize how to pronounce it more often than not.

With Kira, you’d have less mistakes with people pronouncing her name. I know from experience that people would pronounce Kiera as “Kee-air-uh”

I actually meant for it to be pronounced like that, I was just torn between the two names, not two spelling of the same name.

I think it doesn't really matter - for me, sometimes it's not about the character actually fitting the name and vice/versa but making the reader believe that the character fits the name and vice versa. For example, your parents don't know what your going to end up like, but your name is still yours, right?
As well as this, most of the time people who know you by your name would find it weird to call you by any other name, never mind your personality. All in all I think it basically just depends on her culture and background and a lot of other stuff that she can't necessarily control. You kind of just have to get the reader to think that the name fits the character, and then they won't see it any other way. So basically you can decide. On that note though I do like the name Kira
